drilling some holes tonight - how to i seal them so they won't rust

I'm installing a rear sway bar tonight and need to drill two holes into a cross-member for mount supports.

What should I use on the inside of the holes to seal the metal and protect against rust? Someone suggested tremclad, but using a spray can seems a bit awkward.

Is there anything similar to anti-siezing comound that i can use (or can i use anti-sieze compound since it's supposed to prevent rust) ??

Thanks

Tim

What I would do is treat the drilled area with rust inhibiting primer. Then I would Tremclad Rust Paint over it. You don't have to spray directly onto your car, you can spray into a cup and paint the primer and paint over the drilled areas.

You can go to your local Pep Boys or Autozone and check out the line of "Rust Killer" products. They have everything from rust inhibiting primer to rust inhibiting anti seizing compound.

Be sure to check back often and keep those areas clean and sprayed.

Hmm, I've always wondered about this issue too. I've read about something once a long time ago called cold galvanizing compound but have never seen such a thing in stores (not that I looked really hard though). It's supposed to be some kind of liquid you brush on to protect bare metal. Has anyone ever used this stuff or know if it works? Can it be painted over?
