DP Sealant

I received some DP sealant a year or so ago. I used it a couple of times and thought it was an easy to use, slick, nice looking sealant. I usually topped it with a carnauba. I like many others don't really care about how long a product can actually last. I don't wait for a product to wear off. I have seen others comment that it didn't last very long. Well as has happened many times with me in the past, I somehow got back on the 4 Star kick and haven't used DP for a while. I recently tried DP again and once again found it to be a perfectly good product at least for the way I use it. I think I still prefer 4 Star's UPP but would be interested in reading others opinions on DP's sealant.

I've been using it exactly as you (topping with a nice carnauba), and have wanted to also try 4* but haven't been able to justify it since I have 2 bottles of DP PSS (one original and one "improved formula").:gotcha:

Have heard nothing but good things about 4*, but I'm perfectly content with DP sealant. I've also used Klasse and like the durability, but found it more difficulty to work with. I've actually tested the durability of KSG on my wife's van since it was my LSP for several months.

I just received it and gave it a try. Easy on and easy off. I felt the look was beautifully rich. I like the product for those reasons.

UPP is my favorite sealant. I usually top it off with Aquawax.

The DP sealant is a good one also, but like you I have not used it in a while.

I got one of the bottles of DP Sealant that AG gave away when the product was released. I thought it looked pretty nice. Much like you I don't pay attention to durability so I can't comment on that either.

I will say one thing that has turned me off of the DP is that the car can't get wet for 48 hrs after application. So, if it rains you have to re-apply.

Where are you getting that from? On the back of the bottle I recall it stating 12 hours.

Agreed...here is what is on the Autogeek site for the DP Sealant

Once applied to the entire vehicle and buffed, the sealant needs to cure for approximately 12 hours before being exposed to water. This unique formula is oxygen-activated: any exposure to water after the sealant is applied will cause the polymers to “drown”. For maximum bonding and longevity, park the vehicle in a garage or away from sprinklers for a period of 12 hours.

Yeah, from my recollection, I thought it was a good selling point that it advertised half the "cure" time as other sealants (12 hours vs. 24).

I seem to be using Poorboys EXP as my go to sealant although I have never tried either of the mentioned products do you think I should give either a try?

I would highly suggest 4 Star UPP. It is so easy to use (apply & remove) and leaves the slickest finish. It has decent durability as well. If you are just itching to try a new sealant out, I would definitely suggest it.

I have been using Blackfire and it goes on and comes off pretty easy. Also while I am not positive about water, I did read that its only 8 hours of cure time before you can apply the next coat.

Although even with that I usually wait till the next day.

I think I'll take this recommendation.
