Dove soap o.k. for clear coat leather?

Personally I would only use a leather cleaning product for my car's interiors. Leather has a tough time by itself trying to exist in an automotive environment.

From my high school chemistry I remember that soaps are nothing more than fancy FATTY ACIDS. :scared

There are many products that are made specifically for automotive interiors. Stick with these and let someone else save the pennies with DOVE. :wavey

90% of automobile leathers are "Protected Leather". It is fine leather, tanned, and coated with a vinyl coating, not unlike clearcoat.

VERY FEW of today's vehicles have a leather surface to treat.

The Ford F-150 "King Ranch" does.

At least two Lexus models have real leather sufaces... That's about it.

Try this experiment: Put a drop of water on the leather. If it is absorbed (and leaves a "stain"), then us leather products. If it beads, and runs away... You got you some vinyl covered leather, scooter!

Everything else should be treated like vinyl! I know this will bring on the flames, but it is time to put away the the Lexol, and just use your favorite APC and vinyl dressing.

My two cents!

But I like the smell of Pro Leather Lotion ;).

So, you are saying that most ofthe leather in todays' cars are fake leather?? I just got my Accord with leather interior, ****!!

Not fake, "coated". I know of several Vinyl treatments that can be used on leather with no ill effects due to the coating.
