door edge protectors

Have any of you guys attempted to install door edge protectors as an add on service, and if so was it a pretty good money maker and how do price such a service? Any input would be most helpful

Since most door edge protectors that I've seen are pretty ugly, I wouldn't consider offering it as a service. Besides... how much can you get away with charging on sticking something on their door? It's 30 seconds of labor to install a 5 dollar part that you buy at AutoZone. I just don't see the market for that kind of service. I'll admit that I have had the door guards on cars in the past, but I don't think there is any money in selling and installing such a common thing. It would be like charging labor to put a cigarette lighter back in the hole. :lol

I don't particularly like the door guards that I have seen on the market. I saw one kind, the 3M clear ones that are like the car bras they have, I think those would be okay. What kind of protectors did you have in mind?

Anyone know where I can find door ding protectors to mount on my garage walls? I'd use them so if anyone swings the door open in teh garage, at least it hits foam.

I was browsing the detailking site the other day they sell 50 ft rolls of door guard striping for $24.00. they talked about how it could be an easy add on service.

Check Autogeek in garage accesories. They have that exact thing.

I've gone the cheapie route when it comes to garage protection.

I use two "pool noodles" (6 ft. long soft foam plastic pool floats) fastened to the walls with loops of rope for easy removal if necessary.

The car gets properly positioned (not too shallow, not too deep) by placing a board on the floor so give me an accurate "stop" position or suspend a ball-on-a-string from the ceiling .... stop when it touches the windshield .... but can be an issue on a windy day.

Car stops in a consistent location so the doors do not contact the loops of rope, only the foam pool floats .... done.

Used this method for years & no noticeable wear-n-tear on the door edges of any of my cars.
