Does tire shine affect tires differently?

I just got new tires back in January. My old tires were Bridgestone Potenzas and my tire shine made them look glossy and I really liked the way they looked.

However, my new Toyo T1Rs don't look nearly as glossy as the Bridgestones and it doesn't seem to last nearly as long.

Could it just be a difference in the rubber between the two tires, where one won't absorb it like the other would? I've attached pics.

the same thing happens with my tires and my mom's tires. The black magic tire foam works great on the mom's but on mine it barely looks like I did anything.

I'm guessing you'll have to ramp up the bling factor on tire dressing. I am a little surprised since both tires essentially have the same smooth sidewalls...
