does this combo of products sound good to prep for Z2 pro?

Ive been a hardcore zaino fan for many years now and only use zaino products with the exception of surface repairs where I use SMR and rubbing compounds.

Im interested in trying out the menzera products since the general feedback is that it works well with zaino... and plus my car is german so I figured german product on a german car :).

So how does this set up sound:

1. wash and clay

2. Menz FPII

3. Menz Finishing Touch Glaze

4. Z6

5. a few coats of z2 pro with ZFX

Would step #3 using the glaze be of much benefit for the Z2 coming next? Does the glaze have alot of oil properties?

Also, I usually use SMR as my all purpose swirl reducer. But since I want to stick with Menz this time, is FPII or Menz Intensive Polish more like 3m SMR?

Lastly, which pad (I have pretty much all pads) should I use with FPII and the Final Touch Glaze? Im guessing orange then black pad?

Any other tips before I try this?

Thanks for all input!

You should wash with Dawn before apply ZFX. This make sure proper bonding. Oil and fillers should not in between your clear coat and ZFX/Z1.

Skip Touch Glaze! If you don't care about durabilty give it a shot it wont hurt anything, but I like to put Zaino right on top of FPII.

IP white Pad- Orange if there are swirls.

FPII finishing pad

Menzerna and Zaino go together like peas and carrots, a very nice combo.

Final Touch Glaze will not allow Zaino to bond, so if you use it, you will have to use something else besides Zaino. If you still want to use Zaino, then I'm affraid you'll have to skip the glaze.

My Zaino is still going pretty well after FPII, but FPII still leaves some oil on the surface from the lubricants, so a Z7 wash might be useless for extreme durability.

Use FPII with a white pad if you want to polish the paint a bit. Black is a little too soft. Might work, but I've never tried it.

Yep.. What Burlyq said.. skip the glaze and stick to Menzerna IP (by PC medium swirl remover) and FPII (finishing polish to burnish to a high gloss). Very good combo to use with Zaino!

This is my Menzerna / Klasse prep for Zanio

a)Surface Preparation- (using Menzerna polishes and Klasse All-In-One)

1. Wash vehicle with a good quality car wash concentrate 1.0oz per 2 gallon (Zaino Z-7)

2. Rinse vehicle thoroughly.

3. Remove any imbedded contaminants with detailing clay (Clay Magicâ„¢) and a lubrication solution 5:1 (Distilled water/Woolite®)

4. Remove surface imperfections with (Menzerna Intensive Polish) 6/10, Orange /White Pad, speed # 5.0

5. A swirl mark remover (Menzerna Final Polish II, (Contains oils) CA 3/10, White Pad, speed # 4.5

6. Clean paint film surface with a chemical cleaner / polish (Klasse All-In-One)

7. Lightly wash paint surface with a diluted car wash concentrate (Zaino Z-7) 1.0oz per gallon

8. Dry thoroughly and start applying a Zaino Z-2/ Z-3 / Z-5 + ZFX solution

Note: For Ceramiclear clear coat use (4) Menzerna PO85RD and (5) PO106FF

I would stop at the FP II and go right to Zaino. You could do a 50/50 alchohol wipe before zaino if you wanted to be real sure but I have not experience any problems going right from FP II.

The reason for the steps after FPII is that there could be a problem with the oils used in FPII, as the presence of oil may inhibit the cross-linking process of a polymer or linking together of the chains (monomers or building blocks) to form a â€Ëœstructureâ€â„¢ by acting as a barrier and will compromise its strength, durability, drying time and bonding.

Thats why I recommended the 50/50 alchohol wipe. I have heard that the FP does not have these oils, just the FPII.

Sounds good guys, I will go ahead and skip the glaze process due to the oils. Probably just do a thorough z6 wipe down before the Z2.

Now another question, whats a good topper for Z2 that wont inhibit future Z2 applications? Meaning, I dont have to completely remove the topper in order to add another layer of Z2.

Before you decide to put a topper on it, check the results of just the Z2Pro. I heard Zaino is working on a topper but I can tell you Pro looks as good as anything so why top it? Any traditional topper will effect the process of future coats, and the topper is less necessary with the new formula. I used to top old Z2 all the time, but with Pro I have no desire to top it.
