I am going to open a detail shop. Although in some time I plan to offer all of the detail services you know, I want to start providing exterior detailing (polishing, waxing, etc). Especially focused on giving back the cars their "original" gloss and shine.

What should I get to start my operation? Help me please

Welcome to the forum,

As a professional, you want bulk packaged products that get the job done at a low price to keep overhead low.

www.autoint.com offers bulk products that get the job done with no frills and fancy packaging. They can also give you advise. The detailing manual is a good buy to get you started in the professional world.

What products you need will vary form car to car. What application method are you aiming for? Hand, polisher, or rotary?

Exterior
A car wash
An automotive de-contamination system.
Polishes from several different levels of abrasiveness
Wheel cleaner
Tire cleaner
A rotary (experienced users only), or a orbital polisher for applying the polishes/cleaner waxes.
If you want to speed removal an orbital outfitted with a microfiber bonnet or terry bonnet.
Tire dressing
Trim dressing
Glass cleaner
A wax product and maybe offer a more expensive sealant.
Maybe have a quick spray wax option after a wash or soemthing.

Of course have towels, applicators, and pads.

For the Interior
A commercial wet/dry vac, blower.
Extractor
Steam Cleaner
Ozone machine (gets rid of odors.)
A vinyl cleaner.
A vinyl/rubber dressing.
Carpet shampoo.

Also www.topoftheline.com www.prowax.com offer professional details products.

I read somewhere that the polymers -reflective properties in some syn waxes can end up highlighting swirls instead of hiding them---i am using nxt 2.o liquid and seems swirls are just as noticeable as before one wash later since waxing with the liquid 2.0--opinions?

so are you saying you waxed with nxt and the were gone and you washed once and now there back ? also what color is the paint?

I've used NXT before i know how to polish paint, the 1st version. And it's hiding swirls, and light scratches too. But they'll come back as the sealant stripped off from normal usage. This condition inspired me to jump into detailing world, since i want a true corrected paint condition. What i mean with hiding is they make swirls or light scratches are harder to spot on but still can be spot on especially when viewed with right angle under the sun or right lighting system.

car is a 2010 black (multi-color metallic) land rover

car was only wash and waxed--i need to experiment with this regular customer and use a cleaner wax and clay the doors since the doors are the most noticeable area for swirls-(dont recall a fallout problem but just trying to create best bonding situation for the nxt)i have the red consumer bottle of megs a12 cleaner wax-- want to also get megs #66.--looking forward to feedback on this --thnx guys--(and:thumbup: gals :D)

#66 is a very easy to use cleaner was that offers a decent amount of correction depending on the pad and tool used. D151 offers a little more correction but #66 is easier to use IMO.

In my experience nxt will fill a little bit and on very swirlled and scratched paint it will for the most part look the same with proper correction. I do love nxt though and i have used a method of waiting about 20 min before buffing off also go as light as possible aith the buffing and try not to wipe it again with anything for 24 hrs. ive gotten very good durability from this method
