Does BFWD dust for you?

Klasse users, what is better to apply Klasse with by hand, a foam or mf Applicator. Seams like the foam would soak up less product.I have only used an mf Applicator with QD or water on it.

For me.. I applied AIO as per the directions with the PC.

SG, liked the mf applicator. Used a little QD on it.

This weekend I'm putting SG on the Odyssey. I'm going to try a foam app and the mf app(hhshoping's is tall and easy on the hand) without the QD this time.

I'll report back.

Klasse AIO - I prefer the Porter Cable polisher, white foam polishing pad, and a bottle of a non carnauba QD, or a bottle of water.

Dry towel to remove/buff off (immediately).

Klasse SG - I prefer a dry foam applicator pad.

Damp Mf to wipe, then another Mf to buff (let dry 20 minutes.)

Thats just me though, othe rpeople may use those Viper MF applicators for applying both.....

For KSG, the small yellow foam applicators soak up the least amount of product by far, but I find that I am able to get the thinnest coats using a wrung-damp terry applicator. It'll just glide across your surface leaving an extremely thin layer of SG and I only use a few drops of product per panel. I find that the MF applicators don't glide as easily because of the "grabbing" properties of MF. But that's just me. You should experiment and see what you like the best.

What's a non-carnauba QD? Is it any QD that does not have carnauba in it, or are there QDs for carnauba waxes and other QDs for non-carnauba sealants? I love Final Inspection, so is that ok for Klasse?

I agree ,I found the mf to grab alot with SG!!!!!!!!!! Made my hand tired. Thats why I started this thread, I was going to switch to foam but wanted to check with the Autopian's first. Can't make a move with out you guys. :up

Q QD is a QD, they both serve the same purpose.

But a carnuaba Qd will extend the life of a carnuba wax.

You can surely use a carnauba QD with a polymer sealant, just remember to wash the car before layering on more coats of that sealant. A few choices are Pinnacle Crystal Mist, One grand Show Off, and Ef Clear Pearl.

A non-carnauba QD cotnains no carnauba and can be used to Qd a polymer sealant and extend the polyemr sealants or any sealants life. A few examples are Meguiars #34, Eagloe One Wipe and Shine, and 3M's gloss enhancing spray.

So sure, continue using the #34, alos pretty cheap at $20 a gallon.

For AIO i use the PC with the white or grey pad, i also use a damp MF applicator pad.

For the SG i only use dry foam applicators.

I remove AIO with a dry MF towel, and SG with one damp MFT and one dry MFT, this technique speeds up the removal of the SG.

I'm a AIO with a (water) damp mf applicator and SG with foam, guy. I work in the AIO and frequently rinse out the mf applicator (sometimes after every panel). I then use SG and lay on the layers with a dry sponge yellow round applicator, turning the applicator as needed. But that's just my preference.

I always had pretty good success with the mf applicators that came in my Klasse kit. I tried some foam applicators for the AIO and I liked it better. I still prefer the mf applicator for the SG though. There are some good looking foam applicators in my Klasse GP. I think I'm going to get them and give them another shot with the SG.

I have been using Blackfire QD instead of Crystal Mist on Klasse and it is the best QD I have used so far for Klasse....

Unlike others on this forum, I have not used BFWD on dozens and dozens of cars, so my experience with Wet Diamond is limited. I have never experienced a problem with dusting, but it appears that others have. A video of BFWD's dusting was recently posted on YouTube:

BFWD Dusting

Have you experienced this problem? Any speculations on what might cause it? Temperature, humidity, application technique? Have you experienced a similar problem with any other protectants?

I have used BFWD on countless cars and never had a dusting problem. In my experience, the only chance of dusting, is if it is applied to thick. When applied thin, it is not an issue.

I've got light dusting several times and I'd have to agree with Barry on the application amount. How long you let it cure may be a factor as well.

I apply mine with the PC and gold LC pad, but I'm pretty sure I use a little more product than some users. I'll usually apply 2-3 pea sized drops every other panel....I always like to see where I've applied it. ;)
