Does anyone follow instructions with wheel/rim cleaner?

I always see directions on rim cleaners say "spray on, wait, spray off". I don't know, maybe I'm just too old fashioned; I never ever clean my rims without getting the brush and scrubbing every single angle I can possibly get at.

I was washing my car this past week and I forgot that I sprayed EF-Hi Int on one rim and it dried up. I got the hose and went to wet the rim only to see the dirt fall off the rim like I just spent 10 minutes scrubbing. I was really surprised, I have a funny feeling PS12 and Ef-Hi really are good products if you don't want to scrub.

My car was used in the rain and one rim was so dirty it has these 2 inch wide streaks of yellow brown brake dust caked on. I didn't even scrub the darn thing and it came right off where the other rim that had the same problem, I did scrub and I put a little time into it only to get the same results.

Are these the only two products that can do this? How about that Castrol cleaner, that stuff seems to work really well.
