Do you use paint sealant on your wheels?

I thought I recalled reading that a poster uses Klasse (not sure if AIO or SG) on their wheels to make brake dust easier to remove. Does it really work? If so, do you use an AIO or the LSP? Would any high quality sealant work? Klasse, Werkstatt, Zaino, Meg's 20 or 21?

I've used Jeff Werkstatt Acrylic Jett: Trigger and Poorboy's EX-P on rims. It does help with brake dust removal. Plus it adds some shine to rims. :chuckle:

For the all out details I use ZAIO, Z2pro and CS. The dust comes off very easy with a Z7 wash. Even on thoroughly cleaned wheels, ZAIO still pulls more dirt out.

I've just started using RejeX on the wheels and the results, so far, are very positive.

The RejeX seems to be keeping the wheels cleaner between washes.

I use KAIO on all rims after they are cleaned. Deep cleans and brightens the appearance nicely. On cars that don't have a zillion spokes or where I know the customer will tip well, I usually add a coat of OS.

KAIO followed by KSG is what I am using currently, seems to do the trick.

That's my usual treatment for good wheels too, though I'm using UPP on the S8's wheels.

Four layers of KSG works OK, six lasts longer. I clean with a slightly stronger-than-normal shampoo mix and use Sonus Green clay as needed.

So far, the UPP spray sealant is working well for quick refreshers on the S8's wheels after a wash, better than UGE or FK425 (which I use on other wheels).

I am reading many people like using the Klasse twins on their wheels and KAIO on their windshields. Some of these same people are those who have mentioned in other threads that they have switched to JW Prime and Jett for their paint. Is there a reasaon that some of these JW converts are still using the Klasse twins on their wheels and KAIO on their windows rather than JW Prime and Jett? Do JW Prime and Jett just not do as well and KAIO and KSG on wheels and does KAIO do a better job on windows than JW Prime?

Or is it they have some Klasse product left and don't want to waste it. That would make sense.

How much time do you wait between applications of KSG on your wheels? Can't be that long, otherwise you would spend an entire weekend just sealing your wheels.

I just started using Rejex as well and so far it seems to be the best wheel treatment I've tried... I went the full cure time (8 hours) between coats 2x and haven't had to do much since... the light coat of brake dust seems to almost entirely come off with just a shot of compressed air. To be fair I should mention that my wheels don't have a ton of crevices or anything so they might be ideal for this stuff.

In the 3+ weeks since application I've only had to clean with water once b/c of some road gunk that stuck on pretty good... other than that nothing seems to stick. :bounce

Dylan06SS- Glad to hear the RejeX works so well for you. I like the way two coats, 8 hours apart, work so well. Keep us updated about the durability.

Those wheels remind me of the ones on my wife's A8--gotta do around the lugs and the valve stem. Nice and easy to get to the back sides though.

Heh heh, I'll often spend longer than a weekend ;) I let the KSG cure for at least 12 hours.

My situation is such that I can usually have the wheels off the vehicles (so I can do the back sides too) for days on end. Otherwise, I'd go with as many applications of KSG as you can, and then apply a spray sealant fairly often.

I think that any type of wax/sealant will protect the wheels and make brake dust removal a LOT easier. I use Collinite 476S on my wheels.

bert31- I'm no authority on the subject; just started using the spray version of 4-Star UPP and so far so good. But I'd consider any of the regularly-praised ones that you read about here.

Yeah, that's what I use on the MPV's winter steelies.

I assumed you would be done after apply a few coats of a sealant, I didn't realize that you would want to apply a spray sealant on top of it, that is why I asked.

I assume UPP = Ultimate Paint Protection? So every few months or so I should apply a few layers of sealant (whether that be KSG/JW AJ/etc.) on my wheels and during washings where I don't apply a sealant, give the sealant on the wheels a boost with UPP or a similar spray?

I started off using the Klasse twins on my car, then switched to JW AJ-trigger. The left over KSG is used for my wheels. I finally switched to Optimum Opt-Seal for my car. When I'm done with KSG, I'll still have left over JW AJ-trigger for my wheels. So yes, the left overs get shifted to wheel duty.

Any of these sealants will make removing the brake dust easier. Durability is never usually an issue with me because I use ONR to wash my car and wheels.
