Do you lubricate your polishing pads?

Should I use water or detailer (spray) to lubricate my 6" or 4" CCS pads when using mild cutting or swirl mark remover?

I find that the material dries out before I can even get 2-3 passes. I have actually read that minimal product is necessary, but I use about a 6" long, very thin strip of material each section. Not enough to sling, but enough to cover the area with the pad.

Depends on the paint and the polish. I would suggest trying distilled water a few times and see how that works, then try detailer spray and see how that works and do whichever works out best.

I never lubricate my pad... The first time I use it I just add a little extra polish to the paint and away I go.

The polishes have lubricates built into them....

In very dry conditions (like the desert I live in), I do sometimes use a spritz of QD on the pad if I'm unable to get enough working time out of the product to break it down all the way, but only when absolutely necessary.

I use a spritz of ONR lube on my foam pads. I use a UDM, and find that menzerna polishes spread much easier with a little extra lube.

I'm unfamiliar with using distilled water.. Usually when I wipe the leather down in my car, I just use a regular bottled water instead of the tap/hose water.. is that ok? I usually have plenty leftover so I just drink it afterwards lol.

Honestly, it likely doesn't matter.

However, bottled water is still going to have minerals in it, where as distilled wated is literally just H2O molecules.

So the argument would be that you are leaving behind minerals which could end up being detrimental.

I use distilled water with Menzerna (their recommendation), Z6 with Zaino, Final Inspection with Megs. Works out fine for me.
