Do spoilers give anyone fits too?

Am I the only one that has issues with spoilers? My stock WRX spoiler is fairly short and the gap between the trunk lid and itself is only about 2-3 inches, which poses a challenge when machine polishing(Cyclo or Makita).

Do any of you have this problem? This isn't just an issue with my car, I run into this for any car with raised spoilers, Evos, STIs, Supras, etc... Do any of you take them off when machine polishing, or do you have good enough results with hand polishing? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Yeah, I have issues with mine as well. I have contemplated taking it off a few times, but it's a lot of work and is also got some kind of silicone looking sealer around the edges. I'd rather not screw with it.

Same here, about 2 inches clearance. I just polish by hand in there - it doesn't get marred up because nothing really ever touches that area.

I can get my polishing pad a under mine a bit more than the compounding pad with my rotary..

Anyways I'll keep it short - YES it is a pain in the a**!!

Wow. I just detailed the back of my friend MR2 last night. What a b!tch. Not only that, I couldnt even get the spoiler to be all clean. It was insane!! I gave up and told him to buy a new one, LOL.
