Do I use z2 or z5

On Wednesday I'm going to Zaino my sister’s car. I washed and z-18 clayed the car today and it will be garaged all day tomorrow. Then on Wednesday I plan on using the California car duster to remove any dust from it sitting in the garage and going ahead with the Zaino. I will be using zfx with z6 in between coats. My question is do I need to use z5 or should I just go with 3 coats of z2? Her VW Bug is a light blue and it doesn’t appear to have any swirls. This is my second time using Zaino, last time I did it on my fathers green Acura. On it I used two coats of z5 and one coat of z2.

Try the Z2 first...if it looks good leave it alone ......while others like how the Z5 looks on darker colors....tough choice either way.

I agree with Guess My Name. Try it with Z2 first. According to my local Zaino Distributor, the Z5 is not just a filler but it actually enhances the color of the paint. He did say if you do use Z2 and Z5 always end with Z2 because of the higher optics. Your on your way. Good luck. It's already looking nice.

There are ALWAYS some swirls, and it is a thicker polish and 2 coats of that will get that glassy look faster. If you want you can finish up with a coat of Z2. I would Z6 the car after using the duster and before starting the zaino process.......

For my car, which is very dark, I used 2 coats of Z5 and then one coat of Z2 to finish it off. They say Z2 has a better optical quality but I did not notice it. I just figured I would rather have no swirls. On my wifes car which is silver, I only did 1 coat of Z5 and then 2 coats of Z2. Both cars look awesome. I did Z6 before and after each coat.

If you are using ZFX I would go with 3 coats of Z5 just because of the fact of mixing ZFX with the polish ( Z5). 1 oz will give you 3 coats. If you want a little bit more optical perfection follow up the next day with a coat of Z2 without ZFX or go all out and mix 1/2 oz of Z2 with 2 drops of ZFX and do 2 -3 quicks coats.

As DK said there are probably some non-visible marring and several coats of Z5 will lay down a good foundation for the Z2 and increase the depth of the polish.:cool:
 
With the new improved Z5 formula, it would take an extremely well trained eye to notice a difference between the Z5 shine and old Z2 shine. The updated Z5 has an outstanding shine by itself. With the additional benefits of swirl filling, I'd recommend you start with 2 layers of Z5 and finish off with one of Z2.

Thanks guys I think I'll go with 3 coats of z5 tomorrow and then on Friday if I have time I'll go with 2-3 coats of z2 to finish it off. Also If I mix up z2 and zfx how long will it stay good for? Long enough to do a coat or two the following day?

Mixed Z5 or Z2 with ZFX is good for 12 hours but the instructions state to use in 6 hours. If you have not used ZFX'd fortified Zaino you will be surprised on how easy the system becomes. I was!!!

It dries almost instantly and wipe off easy without marring ( instantly cured). Also only mix what you intend to use. 2-3 coats 1/2oz of polish and 2 drops of ZFX.
