Do I Really Need to Use Dawn?

I wanted to do a full detail on my car this weekend. My plan is to do the following:

1. Wash with Dawn
2. Clay
3. Wash
4. SSR2.5 w/ PC
5. SSR1 w/ PC
6. AIO
7. HGSG

My question is do I need to really do the wash with Dawn? Won't claying the car remove any wax/sealant already on there? Even if it doesn't, won't the SSR products remove them? Thanks.

No you don't really need to use dawn, well you do but that is only if you are washing your dishes.
There are many fine products that are out there that are ment to be used on your cars finish, and Dawn isn't one of them.

Use a quality car wash, after claying and polishing the previous wax or sealant wil be long gone.

I'm inclined to do a wash of some kind before you clay, since dirt will break down the clay quicker, and you may drap unnecessry dirt around the paint.

I use the clay and then Meg's DC#1 Paint cleaner to remove anything left over. Works GREAT. I had heard alot of people use dawn and I myself have used, but after doing more and more research I'v learned its not a good idea. I'll take the extra step to use the paint cleaner because again it makes the finish nice and ready for a polish.
When I do my full detail this weekend I too am going to be using SSR2.5 and SSR1. Its my first time with this product and using a PC.
