Do I need to polish (CQuartz UK)

I`ve always done the following:
  1. Wash
  2. Clay
  3. Polish
  4. Eraser
  5. CQuartz UK coating

I bought a new car a couple of months ago. I washed and clayed it, it looks great.

Can I skip the polish step?

I don`t think polishing will make it look any better. My main concern is will the CQuartz adhere just as good without the polishing?

Thanks

I would polish, you want a coating to LOCK in the very best of your new car shine. It will be well worth, and yes, polish

If you get marring from clay then I would say to polish. This is where Essence would come in handy as a finishing polish in prep for cquartz.

Yes ! ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

When you look at the vehicle paint under the best lighting and the sun, you see and feel no defects ????

Not that I should be posting on some "prep for coating? thread" :o but:

I`m torn between "most every new car I can think of has had marring" vs. "don`t be so Autopian that you`re solving problems that don`t bother you".

Somebody please school me if I`m missing something, but I`d think that as long as the paint is truly clean and bare, the coating oughta adhere/last just fine whether it`s been polished or not.

I`m sure it varies by coating but I`ve had no problems putting a coating over a just washed car. But if you are going to the expense and trouble, what`s an extra hour or two.

I went ahead and polished it this morning, ready to apply the coating, thanks to all that replied
