Do I need AIO after clay/SMR?

Hi all, I'm gonna clay my car and use SMR with my trusty TW ROB buffer this weekend. I want to live up to my Klasseman name and Klasse her this weekend. Should I even bother with AIO since I am doing the clay/SMR? Is there any benefit? How long should I wait between AIO and SG if you think I should use it.

Also, should I do the SMR with terry bonner, or wool, or foam?

thanks!

For SMR you should stick with the foam bonnet. I'd use the terry or wool only if you need a more aggressive cutting action. You will need to use the AIO after the clay and SMR. It'll clean your paint of any residue left over from the SMR and make the surface ready for SG. There's no waiting time between AIO and SG, apply AIO and buff off and as soon as your ready apply the SG. The longer you can wait to buff off the SG the easier it is. I went from waiting 2 hrs to 10 hrs and it seemed to come off easier when I waited longer. Results will vary based on environmental conditions.

While not being a Klasse expert, I have to put in my .02 worth.

You may or may not "need" AIO after using some other product, but IMO, you "want" AIO before just about any other product you might be planning to use. I think Zaino would probably be an exception. It seems to be great for a base under most anything, not just Klasse SG. The AIO does a great job of cleaning the paint and leaves an acrylic sealant that seems to be compatible with most top coats. I use it under Platinum and it works quite well. My next experiment with it will probably be AIO topped with S100. The AIO seems to be one product that has universal acceptance. Easy to use, does a good job. No one seems to have anything bad to say about it.

Personal opinion, give away the wool pad, maybe the terry ones too. Stick with the foam.

Thanks for the great info...now, should I apply the AIO and SG with the ROB and foam bonnet, or terry....and maybe this is a stupid questions, but should I buff it off by hand, or with the buffer and terry? (I have MF towels that I could use by hand).

I'm not sure what jobs TW had in mind when accessorizing your ROB, but see if the manual says anything about what bonnet is for what. Terry might be okay for SMR since lots of people (like myself) do SMR with a terry sponge or terry cloth. Your TW buffer probably isn't that powerful so you may need the extra oomf anyway, just like doing it by hand. Use the same type of bonnet (but not THE same bonnet of course ;)) for AIO since it actually is a light polish too. Use whatever bonnet they recommend for wax application for the SG (maybe a thin waxing bonnet?).

You could use the buffer to remove the residue, but I think most do it by hand using the 2 towel method or by spritzing water.

Never having used SG, I can't comment on how to apply and remove it. I have applied AIO with both the PC and by hand. My next application will be by hand with a foam applicator. Just follow the instructions on the AIO and it is very easy to apply and remove.
