i have cleaned my girlfirend's carpet about 8 times, for about 6 time i applied shampoo + scrubbed, then waited for a while, then drenched carpets, then extracted, the water went from realll dark to very light/almost transparent that is. but i never managed to reach crystal clear water, and after 8 cleaning im beginning to wonder if it is actually possible..............i scrubbed like crazy !! come to think of it, i might be a tad nuts about it, but hey it's utopia :p

i would just like to know if some of you get real clean water out of cleaning your carpets(the ones that cover the whole floor, not mats). my guess is even brand new wouldn't give fully clear water, once extracted, but correct me if mistaken.

later ;)

Chip it would be a rare occurance unless the vehicle was practically new....
You might need an extractor if you don't already have one:)

Poorboy...

i already have an extractor, but you confirmed what i expected : that unless the vehicle was brand new, it would prolly never come out crystal clear.............thanks buddy and have a nice weekend :D

My carpet was brand new and the water was milky looking and it smelled like clorine Dont know why but its probley part of the dyeing process of the carpet. After About 3 extractions the smell went away.

Whoa guys.
Remember, carpet is PLASTIC. Plastic requires plasticizers (in most cases) to remain soft and flexible. If you strip these out (like your paint or vinyl) you can make the carpet stiff and crispy. The dye also can come out in some select carpets, however I strongly believe that automotive man. would steer clear of such product.

You will never be able to get crystal clear water in you tank. You will always get some dirt. I used to work for a company that specialized in cleaning commercial carpet, especially restaurants at night. You can imagine how bad carpet is in a restaurant. Tons of grease and other gunk embedded into the capet. We did serious cleaning though. We presprayed with a piping hot chemical and scubbed it in with big floor scrubbers. Our truck mounted extractor was a monster. Incredible vacume, high pressure and HOT 280F solution at the wand. You should see what that kind of temperature does to greasey dirt. Stuff is literally vaporized and sucked up. But guess what I could run the wand over that carpet all night and there would still be some dirt getting sucked up. If the carpet looks good than it is clean enough. It is nearlly impossible to suck up all of the ground in dirt. It can be fun trying though.

Matt

P.S. If any of you guys ever get a chance to run a truck mount carpet extractor go for it. Its fun to use that type of cleaning power. I actually liked that job a lot.

Matt

yeah the guy that cleans the carpet in my house has one I always wanted to snatch the little wand while he is doing the upstairs and start doing my car before he finish's.

all i can say is i was beginning to think that all dirt cannot be taken out of the carpet, after eight times doing em, it became clear (pun intented here :D ).

as was said above, if a commercial truck mount extractor cannot suck it all up with temperature round 280 F, then this sure takes off a huge weight off my shoulders...........being a perfectionist does have upsides, but it drains so much energy out of me at times, it's incredible ! sometimes friend's of mine ask me how i do this or that, and my answer is : you might not want to go through all the efforts i went through to get there.........and im not saying this to show off or anything, but most of the time the vast majority of people will find such and such work pretty well done, or even actually beyond their standards of perfection, and at times envy the end result, but would most of the time NEVER be willing to do it, how ever fine their praise your work.............so the upside of being a perfectionist is you always through trial and errors find a solution to excellent results, whatever the area of work, and if possible without trial and errors (but it s hard not to blunder at any time).

i'll hit the hay now, so catch you all later guys.......take care :)
