Just took in my project for the next week. Pulled it into the garage before the oncoming thunderstorm and was inspecting it. All of a sudden :yikes: a sound like a Mack truck had hit my garage door makes me about jump out of my skin, the lights go out and the smoke detector goes off all at the same time. There I am standing in pitch black with my ears ringing and my heart racing. The lightining was so close I actually went outside to see if it actually hit the house. For a split second I really thought there had just been an explosion.

Glad your ok!!!! I grew up in OKC I know all about those crazy storms, Scary sometimes

oh man, i hear that . lightning hit my next door neighbor's tree once (very close by) and sent me to ground, just like some serious "incoming". another time i was inside a friend's house that was actually struck by lightning. it'll definitely put the fear of God in you!

Wow glad it didn't strike your house.

I was the baseball game a couple weeks ago and a storm came in while the game was going. Lightning struck the ballpark according to some research an independent company did. It was the loudest sound I've ever heard and everything shook. I just happened to turn at the right time to see it happen.

Video from the game

I've been struck by lightning before. It surprisingly didn't hurt that bad and as far as I can tell, no long lasting ill effects :crazy2:

Glad you're okay :rockon

Had a strike 100feet from shop today. It shut everything down for a moment. Was seeing spots and the instantaneous boom I felt on my chest. Just happens to be looking out the door after another previous close one.

Pretty scary. Glad you didn't take a direct hit.

Saw a video where lighting hit a wet soccer field. All the players instantly were out for a moment.

Thanks, guys.

I've had strikes close before. Definitely ear splitting. But this was made much worse by the metal garage door working like a drum. Imagine standing just inside a garage door when a basketball hits the outside...now multiply that by 100. I am from SoCal and have experienced some serious earthquakes but this trumped them all.

This year has been alot of storms with lighting for us because our area is known to be the Lighting Capital of the US.
