Dirty car - embarrassing?

Like the majority (if not all) of the citizens of Detail City, I maintain the appearance of my car regularly. I take pride in keeping it clean and looking good but on rare occasion, due to time constraints or other circumstances, my car will get fairly dirty (or at least dirty enough to bother me). I find myself feeling a little ashamed and/or embarrassed when driving around in my "dirty" car. I guess I kind of feel like the condition/appearance of my car reflects back on me, the driver/owner, even though I know that the majority of average motorists and pedestrians could care less about the state of my car. It's not anything that would ever stop me from driving my car and doing what I need to do... I don't need any professional help. :lol Anyway, my question is, can anybody else relate (even slightly)? :kneel

I know I feel that way when my car is dirty! My drivers side door, quarter panel, and rear bumper are swirled beyond belief do to a new paint job and clear that did not cure right (long story but the shot version is the clear is WAY too soft and if you look at the paint wrong it scratches) and it makes me feel ashamed to be driving it just knowing that it is like that. Even though most people don't notice. You just reminded me though, I have been taking my car through my friends touchless wash and last night some of the sprayers were not working and it came out like crap. I need to e-mail him now about it. :D

you are deff not alone, how about haveing white overspray on the car and you cant get out with all the rain to clay? drives me nuts, and to make it more embarrassing i have been helping a autopian detail boats and we both got the overspray that day and we both thought we parked far enough away  think detailers would be more carefull huh

I'm the same way, I'll skip dinner if it means the differance between a slighty dirty car or a clean one. Even when there is only a light layer of dust on her I still feel a bit embarrassed when I drive it or if someone I know is looking at her. My friends tell me that even when I think my car is dirty it is still cleaner than 95% of the cars around her (DC/Autopian standard)

That's why we're here - we all have the same sickness!! And we understand each other, and feel each other's pain when our cars are not up to our standards!!

Now, repeat after me: Hi, my name is ________, and I'm a shiny car addict!!:lol

my name is cw and I AM A SHINY CAR ADDICT

i was not always this way. there were times in my life that i did not have enough money to own a shiny car much less purchase the products and the gear to make and keep it shiny.
now in the better times of my life i am able to keep and maintain not only cars but my house and children all benefit from this new era of pride and dedication that really started with the first time i started to take care of my vehicle.
i get made fun of often because of the time that i spend on my vehicle. but no one says that i should not take care of what is mine. everything i own and everyone i take care of is better off because i have found that keeping a clean vehicle for me is like taking care of myself. without taking care of self i am not able to take care of anyone or anything.
yea, i am a shiny car addict and i (imho) am better off becase of it....!
