dirty and greasy underside

I have a new to me 1989 Volvo 240. This car did not lead a pampered life but still runs like a champ. After fixing MANY oil leaks and doing a good tune up this car can go for another 200,000 miles. I cleaned the engine bay but the underside of the car (firewall back to rear bumper) is coated in dirty greasy gunk. What's the best way to clean this? I don't have access to a car lift so I will be doing this from the ground. Thanks for the help.
 
Do you have access to a jack? Jack it up, douse with degreaser, power wash. If not you are just going to have to squirt some degreaser up there and power wash it off.



Hell buy a jack then return it if you must
 
And if you do power wash, make sure you wear eye protection because gunk is going to fly everywhere and try not to wash the oil down into the sewer, remember the environment.
