12V vacs are nothing but toys. They don't have enough power to generate decent suction. No different than battery powered Dustbuster's.
If you're looking for a great deal on a shop vac, go to Big Lots. They have refurbed Shop Vacs (yes, the real thing) starting at $20 for the small ones and going up to $75 for the monster vacs.
