Diluted Duragloss AW as a QD

Anyone else using diluted Duragloss Aquawax as a QD? The Aquawax straight-up was the best spray wax I've yet tried, so I recently stated diluting it (4:1) and using it as a QD and seems to be working excellent for this purpose.

Don't know why you would want to dilute it - seems like a strange concept.

In its diluted form it still has no/minimal cleaning properties - so it still can't act as a true QD.

Diluting it just means it will have weaker protective/gloss capabilities without really making it any easier to apply or allowing it to do anything new that it can't already do better in it's undiluted form.

I guess it could make the AW go further - but it's already very reasonably priced/economical as it is.

Aquawax is a spraywax ("yes", basically just a concentrated QD). And it's not economical enough when you go through as much as I do. And I've never feld QDs really have "cleaning" properties anyways...I just use them as a spot-free touchup for cleaning up water runs after washing, cleaning door jams, removing stubborn polish, etc.

And if I want to add protection, etc. to the paint, I will indeed use the stuff full strength.

Then I would just use their Fast Clean & Shine QD instead, and save the AW for full strength applications.

The FC&S will provide all the look and feel of AW, but without the protection, and it is a better surface cleaner than AW. AW isn't really intneded to be used as a surface cleaner anyhow....more of a LSP.

To me a true QD is one that has cleaning properties.

For the purposes you are talking about (wiping door jambs, cleaning up water runs, etc.) I wouldn't use AW - even in diluted form.

I would use a true QD like DG FC&S or another reasonably priced QD.

Why not just use ONR and Distilled water? It dilutes low enough that it'd still be (lots) cheaper than AW and would most assuredly clean better. Seems like you are defeating the purpose of AW by diluting it.

Aquawax is not a concentrated QD. Concentrated QD's do not translate into a wax. There are cleaning properties to a genuine QD but not protection qualities like a dedicated spray wax. Also many QD's offer a lubricating quality to them for light dirt removal unlike spray waxes. I believe the Autopian Sherman is a good source for reviewing and recommending lubricating QD's.

Duragloss makes a dedicated QD called Fast Clean & Shine. If you concentrate that, you will not get Aquawax.

Apples and oranges - Qd's to spray waxes.

The ONR or QEW dillution is an excellent idea. Maybe toss in a little bit of a QD that is compatible.
