Difference between 845 and 476s?

Just wondering the differences. I got me a bottle of 845 not too long ago and so far it is the best wax I have ever used. Gloss and slickness is amazing even on white and silver. Which one of the two do you prefer and why?

I've been told they are the same thing.

476 is just the paste form of 845. I think i will e-mail Collinite right no actually to confirm my hearings.

I think in a nutshell the 845 goes on easier and looks better but doesn't last as long. That's not to say the 476 is hard to apply (thin, man!) or looks bad...it's just a little flatter looking. Of course I've never compared them side-by-side on the same car.

476 seems more durable than 845, but 845 might look a little brighter (more gloss), at least on light colored cars. Like Setec I've never really done a side-by-side comparison on the same car. Since 845 is called their Insulator Wax I don't think it is considered a liquid version of 476. I seem to recall that 845 contains some resins or acrylics..... stiffdogg06, it will be interesting to hear what Collinite has to say about that.

From talking with Collonite I know that 476 is the same as 885 (Fleetwax) except they come in different sized tins.

The 476S IS one of those pastes that if you put it on real heavy and leave it for too long...you will really be cursing yourself out as it will be tough to remove. The 845 might be the same way, but it's almost impossible to put on thick as it just seems to melt into the paint (at least the old non-VOC stuff does).

Here's an e-mail I sent to collinite asking about the two products.

Dear Andrew:

The #476s & #845 basically have the sames ingredients except when you make the #476s you increase the concentration of ingredients so it forms into a paste. The #476s is the more durable of the two but is harder to work with, the #845 is a liquid and is easier to apply & remove. You can't go wrong either way.

Subject: Collinite Question

To whom this may concern,

I have been told many times that 845 and 476s are the same thing. Is 476s really just the paste form of 845? What are the differences between the two?

Thank you!

- Andrew

Interesting about the 845/476S info from Collinite.

I find it interesting that the 845 absolutely does *NOT* stain trim for me, but the 476S can in some situations

Side-by-side, the 845 did look better to me (on '00 GM Pewter metallic) but the differences diminished over a few washes. The 476S stayed slick and beading considerably longer.

For some reason 845 doesn't stay slick/beading on the plastic bumper covers of the A8, but the 476S does :nixweiss Also, the appearance differences between the two are more pronounced on Audi silver, with the 845 looking quite a bit better (at least to my eyes).

I've used both and for looks I prefer the 845. It's just my favorite wax right now. 476 is good and more durable but the 845 has a special something to my eye.
