Did I mess up my paint with the PC? (pics)

So I used the PC for the first time on Thanksgiving day (still a newbie). I used a 6.5" orange LC CCS pad w/ Meg's #83. When I was done, the paint looked fine to me. Today I noticed these "buffer trails" while at school. Vertical trails are more apparent than any horizantal trails. Any ideas on how to fix this? I also have meguiars #9, should I have used this with a white pad after the #83?

Dude, our paint is so soft, that I find I never have to use anything more than a white pad and Menzerna's IP on the deep stuff. I did once try out an Orange pad with OC and it looked a lot like your door before I had applied a final polish.

For medium to light swirls on my car, I've been able to work wonders with only a Black CCS pad and Menz FPII. Our paint is apparently really hard to refine to a perfect finish, but I was finally able to get there by using this combination.

I had some pictures in reserve from my winter detail in October. Never took any before shots, but here are a couple of afters. This was after the polish.

obey - Just looks like some micro marring from #83 and the orange pad to me. Judging by what bwlucas posted you could go over it with a white pad and #9 to remove the micro marring and the lines you are seeing now. Give it a shot on one panel and let us know how it goes!

bwlucas - Nice work! I can't believe a black pad and FP2 with a PC was able to correct medium swirls! Acura paint must be softer than I realized.

hey thanks alot bwlucas. I've tried 83 with a white pad but didnt get such great results, so I moved up to an orange pad. I'll go ahead and try #9 with a white pad and see what happens. If that fails, it'll give me an excuse to get some Menz products :D yippee

hey man, are you on clubrsx? But yea, when using a polish like #83 with orange, make sure you refine by going over it with #9 and white pad. When doing a full paint correction thats my combo. I go #83 with orange, #9 with white, OPS with megs yellow, then #26 by hand. To me this combination works awesome.

I don't know about obey, but I am. I only hang out in the Michigan Chat over there though.

I've never tried any polish by Meg's. I started with the Poorboys line up, didn't like the results I was getting (or the dust) and decided to try Menzernas which has been working great for me.

In order to remove defects, you have to "cut" through the paint. While the 83 with the Orange pad may have removed defects such as scratches, swirls, ect., it instilled millions of nearly microscopic scratches that appear as a haze.

Like the others have said, simply go back over it with a finishing polish and a polishing pad.

No.9 contains fillers and will in fact hide the "trails" but will not totally get rid of them. Try going with Menz FPII or 106ff id prob lean towards FPII due to the softness of the finish. If you only have No. 9 and want to get a swirl free finish without hiding anything do an 50/50 Alcohol water wipe down after you polish and that will reveal the true correction without any fillers. Hope this helps

Hey I have tried alot of things but then I tried some Meg's and it worked just as good, doesn't dust, and I can buy it in bulk for alot less. I can get a Gallon of #83, #9, #26 for $75 dollars. So I can't pass that up. That will last for a long time. I have yet to try Menzernas but I have heard nothing but good things about it.
