Did I mess up??? EX on top of Nattys-Blue.

I just applied EX over a 5 day old layer of Nattys-Blue. The car was looking soooo good and I wanted to add 1 more freaking layer of Nattys-Blue as part of my winterizing plans.

The car now has:

AIO

EX x3

Nattys-Blue

EX

Did I screw up? If so, what are the effects and what should I do to correct?

Hmmm, I don't think EX will bond to a wax? Gonna need an expert in here, but I'm pretty sure you screwed up. How does it look?

Haven't removed it yet... still hazing up.

Crapola, crapola, crapola.

Yeah, the PB sealants don't bond rite over wax. apply them the other way around, the EX first, wait 24 hrs., then the Natty's

I did EX-P over Paste Glaz once, and it just felt all wrong. It wasn't slick, it didn't even bead water very well.

I think within the next week you'll probably be redoing AIO/EX/etc...

I've just buffed the EX off...looks real good and the surface is super slick. However it seems to have lighted a tad almost as if the wax is gone.

I'll just have to reapply Nattys-Blue tomorrow.

Stupid me. :furious:

I'm hoping that this will only effect the Nattys that I had on there and not the other EX layers. I really hope not to have to redo all of it. I'll keep track of how things work out and post the results.

See how it feels after the first wash. Mine wasn't slick at all, but maybe EX is different.

If you're looking for durability for the winter, I'd redo it. Who knows what the durability will be like with acrylic --> polymerx3 --> carnuba --> polymer -->carnuba

Don't worry about it. EX is not the most durable product anyway. I would put another coat of EX on there to remove the rest of the Natty's, and then apply another coat of Natty's, or just leave the EX... depending on which one you prefer on top.

Trust me, you didn't have 5 layers of products on there before the last application of EX anyhow.

I try never to layer sealants over waxes... to the extent that I don't even use QD's with carnuba over sealants if I know I'm going to be applying another top up coat of sealant within a short space of time. Just a golden rule of mine... going on the principle that waxes like to evaporate, and if you trap them under a layer of sealant this process will be modified... and that many sealants won't bond to waxes very well. Just my thoughts...

I knew better and did it on accident.

I'm in the process of AIO'ing the Liberty right this moment. Starting over from scratch. UGH! :hairpull
