Dewalt vs Makita

I was almost about to click the purchase button on a new Dewalt DWP849X when i noticed how many people praised the makita 9227cx3. I have only used a Dewalt DWp849 and never a makita. I never had any complaints about the dewalt but it is the only machine I have used before to polish with. The dewalt i was using is my cousins and i recently returned it to him so now i am looking to buy my own. My question is which is better and why or is it mostly just a personal prefrence of the brand name?

I have had my Dewalt for about 4 years now and it is still going strong, however, I use it rarely....primarily when removing sanding marks, etc. most of the time, I use my Porter Cable 7424xp. I also have a flex, but really don't care for it, so it just sits and collects dust.
