It seems like the 847 ia a little less powerful, has no speed dial, and is not equipped with a variable trigger.

And for using a rotary for car detailing you absolutely have got to have a speed dial and a variable trigger. Without those two features the polisher is worthless for work on cars.
 
Why is it worthless?



I have been using an 847 for years without any problems. It does have a variable speed trigger.

How are people using the Ridgid so successfully since it doesn't have a variable trigger?
