Detailing supply stores

I'm a regular Autopia customer, but online shopping isn't always convenient for me. I'm headed back to school this week and would like to restock my detailing supplies before I leave.

Unfortunately, I've yet to find a store that carries quality detailing supplies I would actually use. Chains like Autozone are only good for tire shine and the like. I'm looking for a place that carries high quality microfiber towels, waxes, polishes, basically the stuff I normally order online.

I'm in Westchester County, NY, but would be more than willing to travel a bit for good products. Basically anything in the tri state area is fair game. I'm in dire need of a good detailing supply store.

Thanks in advance. I appreciate the help.

I had to try it to believe it, but the K-Mart Viking microfiber towels are really nice.

I've seen some Meg's Mirror Glaze line waxes at Pep Boys and Collinite 845 at Advance Auto.

Carquest has some more of the mirror glaze line, and some of the DG line, 3m polishes(though not the amazing stuff)

That would be a good idea to open a store that had good detailing products . I live in Virgina there are people here with money. Also what about a magazine that has new product ,cars and how to's that would be a good idea.

There is also PAL Automotive in Piscataway, NJ. They are a Meg's and (I think) AutoMagic distributor. Last time I was there the MF's and pads left something to be desired compared to the best online product, but IMO almost any brick and mortar store is going to have less of a selection than the big online stores. Be that as it may, PAL is strictly detailing supplies, from chemicals to brushes to machines to pinstriping and protective floor mats.

Check with your local auto body supply store. The places the body shops buy their paint from. The local ones around here carry a full line of Meguiar's and 3M.

what about autozone, i saw they had a 6 pack of MF's I think by Viking for $7.99 or $6.99 I believe. I dont know about quality, but I have tried viking and seems good. Autozone and other OTC products from others, you can get good quality supplies, but your best bet would be online to get everthing at once.

I've had good luck with the Vroom MF towels that Target sells. Carquest has most of the DG and Megs stuff, check for their "paint" store for the good 3M stuff.

Are the Vroom just like Viking? Whats the price at target for those? How many? What about walmart? I think they sell viking.

how far are you from NYAck. thats where POORBOYS WORLD IS AT. they have everything but polishers and pads i beleive.

GlimmerGlassDetailing is in north jersey... im not sure if he does business like that but he'd probably help you out... email or call him...

There is very little in Indy. But with the price of gas being over three dollars a gallon, it is almost cheaper to just pay the shipping from an online store. Going just about anywhere will burn up six to seven dollars of gas. Car Brite products are produced locally but I am not really that hot on them. A local Auto Geek store would be wonderfull!!!!!!!!!!!!!

coupon code autopia for %15 discount, shipping is expensive anyways for 1 state over from NJ.

I am in the Charlotte area, and I just found an automotive paint store that sells (and stocks) the ENTIRE Meguiar's pro line (they even have some discontinued products), along with the 3M products and pads.

Look for a place that does detail supply "wholesale"... thats usually where professional detailers get their supply (but i bet most won't want to tell you where if you were to call and ask a detailer for example)

They are hard to find but well worth it

The stuff at Pepboys... kragen... autozone... etc 98% of it is garbage
