today I detailed a CRV...it was a green CRV with pretty bad scratches. I decided to use a yellow cutting pad and some slightly abrasive power pack (Car Brite) with a Makita Hi speed on the car and remove a lot of the surface items & light scratches.

I did not clay since I was polishing?

After that I waxed the surface with ColorX by hand and that was the end of the detail as far as the exterior.

Did I make a mistake in not using a glaze? The marring and spider-webbing was lightly visible but overall the car looked much better. I want to know how many of you would have prepped the car and the steps you might have used?

Should it have been

Polish

Glaze

Wax?

Does the use of a hi speed play a role in the steps?

Color X is somewhat of a cleaning and swirl removing product.

Without actually seeing the vehicle, I have no idea exactly what I would have used or what steps I would have taken. I normally use a glaze if I have done any heavy polishing.

AutoNova- If the finish needed claying, I would've clayed it even if I was gonna polish. I'd clay first.

Whenever *I* use a rotary I usually follow up with a PC, especially if I can't pull it into the sun to check for holograms and other problems. Someone who's a lot better with a rotary might not need to do this, but even Mike Phillips usually does. I'd use either a milder polishing product or a glaze at that point.
