Detailing of a BMW

I started detailing this BMW 330 CI late yesterday and finished it up today. It belongs to a new client and it wasn't in bad shape, other than some really bad pitting on the wheels and he is a smoker:( Inside windows were really bad and it took several cleanings to get them nice and crystal clear.

Interior just needed a few spots removed, mats were shampooed an dextracted, wood polished up, headliner cleaner in a few areas, vinly cleaned and leather conditioned with Fourstar Leather Conditioner.

The exterior had some light swirls and minor scratching. On a scale from 1 to 10 I would say the swirls were about a 4 overall with heavier scratches on the trunk. I hit the top surfaces with Menzerna's PG (I just love this stuff:xyxthumbs ) and a Lake Country orange pad.

I then went over the top areas again plus the sides with a white polishing pad and more of the PG. The PG got great results with a white polishing pad, it left no marring and it came out looking so nice that I went straight to Menzerna FP, AIO and then Trade Secret.

The key here I believe is to really work the PG until almost all gone and the only peeve I may have is that it can get sticky and build up but using your trusty water spray bottle and a towel will take care of that problem. I may of opted for another polishing step, say with Menzerna IP, if it had been a darker color. I could of left out the AIO application as the FP really brought out some nice depth but I was curious to see if I could get more depth and gloss. It may of not added much more gloss but it did darken the color which looks really nice on this color.

I used a new polishing creme on the windows that worked really well. It removed some water spotting and did a nice job of the headlights and lenses.

Well here are a few pics (sorry no BEFORE shots).

I wish I had a shot of the wheels before I started as they were pretty dirty and real pitted. I used TOL's "Wheel Wash" and lots of elbow grease in the polishing step to get as much gunk out as possible.

Here is a shot where you can see some of the wheel.

Beautiful Bimmer Anthony. Those Bimmers really like to build up the brake dust. The wheels look really good and the color really pops. What's Menzerna PG?

hey Greg, thanks for the comments!

Menzerna PG is their "powergloss". It is a cutting compund and is much more aggressive than their Intensive Polish (IP).

It is also VERY thick, it comes out like molassess going up hill:eek: Clogs up the bottle quite often which is a real pain but it works great!

Looks really good, Anthony!

Don't you hate those little slots on those wheels? Don't BMW wheel designers take into consideration how much dust the brakes generate? They must hate detailers or something.

Looks like y'all had the same mostly cloudy day we had.

Scott,

Thanks:xyxthumbs

I am really fed up with the weather as it is going to rain later tonight, forecasted to then rain tomorrow and Thursday:mad:

I am going to the weathermans house and have a word with him:argue

Speaking of BMW wheels....as I was formatting this pictures, doing the one with the wheel, I got a call from a clients wife and she had just gotten a flat tire and asked if I had the # for the BMW dealer and I thought....Whoa, is this a twilight zone moment or what?

But yeah, BMW wheels suck:down

Adios,

Anthony

Anthony-rain here tomorrow, partly to mostly cloudy on Thursday and dry though Sunday, but below average temperatures.

I think today's high was 48. Ugh. Cold hands all day long.

Tell me about! What about those Grand Marquis!!! It must be 1,000 holes on those wheels per tires!!!

Great job on the BMW Anthony!:xyxthumbs

Infiniti J30 wheels (of that same style) are the worst...dang coating deteriorates very quickly if you let the wheels get bad.

I do an older BMW 740 and it has those spider web wheels.....ugh, makes me shudder just thinking about them!

I sometimes think that the designers laugh it up and say at the company lunch room....."Let's see how much these wheels piss off those detailers!"

Anthony,

Sweet! :xyxthumbs Of course, you know that I love Bimmers!:D

Those wheels came out great! I'm sure that they were really bad before you started on the car. I know with my Bimmers, I wipe them down every day with QD and a towel just to keep up on them. I also apply another layer of SG about every two weeks to the wheels. That step alone really helps keep the BMW wheels easy to keep clean.

Keep up the great work! :bow

Cheers,

Beautiful job on the BMW! Steel Gray really cleans up nicely, too bad it's been discontinued on most models.

 Thank you all for the nice comments and it looks like the weatherman is forecasting rain for the next two days so I'll be working on my website, playing PC games, washing my towels, filling up my product bottles and of course combing through my MF towels getting ready for the sunny weekend:bounce

Adios,

Anthony
