Detailing light for the garage?

My garage is very dim and I need something that can stand / sit on its own while I do my detailing

I have a nice handheld one that is great but unless I want to pay someone to hold it for me , it is a no go because it needs to be right up close to the paint to be effective but it is the right type of light none the less because it def works.

Not sure what it is but the light is very white in color, flourescent maybe as the bulbs are tubes and takes a sec to turn on but it does not get hot which is great!

Not looking to break the bank just something large enough and of quality that I can just sit or stand it off to the side to illuminate one part of the car at a time at least.

thanks!

The vast majority of detailers on Autopia use something similar to this:

The cost is very low and would probably range $20-150 depending on the size, telescoping height, and build quality. Available at any home improvement warehouse.

ahhhh, ok I have the little yellow handheld light in the pic by holden

thanks, so I will just look for halogen bulbs, I was not sure which type light would work best because I have one really hot light that sits on the garage floor and while it is plenty bright, it is yellowish light and does not show the scratches and swirls, I guess it is not halogen. I thought all were halogen, Im surprised it was not something else that I could not think of

thanks :D

Halogens are good for general illumination while polishing, but for my final inspections I always turn out all the other lights and use incandescent light(s). It simply shows flaws that I don't see under halogens or anything else in my shop.

There are a lot of good threads where we go into considerable detail about what makes for good lighting.

Are those halogens?

I think I have that exact same one, the smaller handheld one in the pic except mine is red and I love it! Just need something larger that I don't have to hold myself.

Thanks
