Here's a question for you. I started out detailing cars at the beginning of June. So far, I've only done 3, yes just 3, cars. The first 2 were people that worked with my mother, the 3rd was a friend of the 2nd. Other than that, I've gotten no more calls. Well, actually, I take that back, I did get a really nasty call from a mad lady yesterday about the "stupid and insulting" ad that was left on her car. Details are posted in another thread, but lets just say I won't be doing it again.
We also live about 10-15 minutes from one of the most popular beach resort areas on the east coast (Rehoboth and Dewey Beach, Delware), and I just got an idea from another Autopian that I should target vacationers at the beach. That way, while they're soaking up the sun on the beach, their car is getting the full spa treatment, yet another added conveniance that they don't have to worry about.
So, how do you advertise? You said you got a call from someone with a flyer, but how did you score the SL500? It's come to my awareness that people would rather not have something stuck on their car, like a flyer.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Oh, and my father works at a very popular and upscale golf course, with very well cared for, usually expensive cars owned by golfers coming in and out everyday. They too would be perfect clients, but I'm unsure about advertising.
