Mobile Detailing Services
This is another vehicle that had it's spring cleaning on my list. I actually did this one yesterday. It was the only one scheduled since all of my kids are now in soccer and it was practice day.

I normally see this one bi-weekly but the customer had been out of town for almost 6 weeks before calling me. She also lives on a gravel/dusty road, so swirls will always be around no matter how I maintain it. I just don't get it. Black is not the color for up here. Oh well, keeps me paid!

On to the detail.........

Wheels, Tires, and Wells....

(Purple Power Degreaser and Meguiar's Wheel Brightener)

Nothing fancy here. Just some good, thorough cleaning. The Wheel ShMitt allowed me to get into area that I normally couldn't.......without bloody knuckles! I then scrubbe the tires with the mitt. The wheels were dried and treated with DP's Spray Surface Shield in an attempt to keep brake dust at bay. The tires were dressed with Pinnacle's Black Onyx Tire Gel. Wells were coated with No-Touch's Wetn'Protect.

Wash Cycle........

(NXT Tech Wash with Wash ShMitt)

Man, this thing only took me 10 minutes to wash! I'm not used to this small of a vehicle. The yellow pad on the ShMitt took care of the bugs easily.

Paint Correction.....

Pinnacle's Advanced Swirl Remover

(Via Rotary and EDGE2K Blue Pad at 1500RPMS)

Well, the only way you're gonna learn somthing new is to just jump in. The rotary is fast......really fast. It did in 1.5 hours what it would had taken the PC to do in 3 hours. I still have a lot to learn though. I had some splattering problems and some hopping. In all, it was fun. The blue pad is not that aggressive but when coupled with an aggressive polish and rotary, it will do the job.

Paint Protection.......

Souveran Paste Wax

(Applied with foam applicator pad by hand and removed with MF towel)

Ok. Why not Souveran Spray Wax? Preference. Plus, I don't want to get bored! It's been a while since I've applied wax by hand and I kind of miss it. It helps to that this thing is small. I gave it a good thin, layer in a front-to-back direction.....

There were no problem with removal. Even is the sun and on black.

Interior.......

(Pinnacle's Vinyl & Rubber Cleaner, Vinyl & Rubber Protectant, Leather Conditioner, and Diamondite's Glass Cleaner)

I had to vacuum up some dog hair. New puppy. Suspicious stains too. Puppy I bet! Dang this thing is small on the inside. I beat my legs and head to death cleaning and vacumming. At least there was no need for a shampoo.

Befores........

There's one, fine scratch in the bottom left that I could not get out. Oh well. I'm not killing myself over it. Sure.........LOL!

Impressive work as always Justin! Everytime I read one of your details, it seems like I order more and more products, in fact, I just ordered some Pinnacle's Vinyl and Rubber Protectant and I might be purchasing some Meg's Wheel brightener!

BTW, How are you liking the rotary? I was wondering when you were finally going to make that leap, being that you detail professionally! From what I've heard, not only does it save you time, as you mentioned, but it can also produce results on extremely marred cars that no PC can produce....I would look into purchasing one, but for a weekend warrior like me, I just don't see myself getting too much use out of it, and being that I'm off to college in August, I don't think I would get my full moneys worth!

Thanks for the kind words!

To tell you the truth I don't like it.........right now. I'm sure that will change. I'm just making myself use every chance that I get. It's just different to me. I think it's fear. I have no fear with the PC.......never did. I bet next year, I'll be saying the same for the rotary!

When you are used to polish via rotary you just use the PC for waxing, no problems at all with holograms. The finish achieved via rotary is better than the one achieved via PC.

I still insist that even with years of experience, you will always from one time to another, need a PC for finishing. Holorgrams may not always be visible right away, but there is always a spot somewhere that has a slight HALO.

Mike Phillips, G35stilez, Gregcavi, Picus, ect, all well known detailers who have done work with rotories beautifully, have at one car or another needed to finish with a PC. So do not let go of that PC just yet, in anticipation of bettering your skills with a rotory.

I polished around 30 cars with the rotary and never left holograms. Maybe I never buffed a car with very soft paint like Honda's, but I think that PO85RD + Blue Propel and finishing the buffing without any pressure, at ~1200 rpm moreless will leave a perfect finish without holograms.

I'll polish a new Civic and I'll check if it is difficult to leave the surface hologram free or not.

Maybe Poli-Seal via rotary (very low cut) will do the trick.

I'll share the experiences :wavey
