Detail: Yin and Yang Dodge Challenger Twins

Merlin

A Miracle Detailing
Yes, TWO Dodge Challenger's a 2010 and 2011. One is black and one white.
I just spent a couple of days doing Yin and Yang. Both are the same owner.

Both were moderately swirled, covered in small scratches and never waxed.
When they were washed, water laid on the hood in a solid "wet looking" pool
Both cars were washed (two bucket method) clayed and then washed again.

They both look great but to my eyes black is just so much more impressive than white, especially when you can see them side by side.

Nice work.

Thanks,

Actually the pics don't do 'em justice. The plain white just flat out sparkled.
When you look at the sun's reflection on the white hood you go snow blind.

The black one..."Black is not a color it's a career." It looks great when done.

Great work there Merlin on the twins! So one got a sealant and the other a wax. Which one looks the best to you in shine?

Well actually the Megs Ultimate is really a synthetic polymer wax.
The Megs Ultimate line is actually consumer based retail products.

They call it Ultimate Compound, Ultimate Polish and Ultimate Wax.
It's "kinda" a consumer version of M105, M205 and a new sealant.

Consumers don't know the difference between a sealant & a wax.
You can't educate them no matter how much money you'd spend.
"So they call it a wax."
BTW - They state It's the longest last wax they have ever made.

Z-2 with ZFX takes me about three hours to apply three coats.
Apply, wait 30-45 minutes, remove, apply, remove, repeat etc.
I use Z-2 on some cars when the polish is quick and I have time.

In Shine? Well the cars were both polished to a high gloss shine.
Visually, I don't believe you could tell the difference when done.
I could have used a cheap $2.98 Wally World wax & it look good.

White Car Friday:
Nice day, no rain, got started about 9am, swirls cleaned up fast.
Had time left over to apply a LSP that takes about 3 hours to do.
Customer came to pick up car at 4pm. Wiped of 3rd coat at 4:30
Customer complained he had to wait. Wanted to miss the traffic.

Black Car Sunday:
It had rained all morning and I didn't get started on the black one.
Started about 11:30am and the client was picking it up at 4:30pm
I needed an LSP that was fast, easy, shiny & had good durability.

What would the professional version of the Ult Wax be? You called it "a new sealant". What did you mean by that?

Do you agree that it is their longest lasting wax? If not which do you believe is?

Ultimate Wax is not a wax in the traditional sense of the word. It is a synthetic polymer.
It's all about terminology. Megs Ultimate Wax in "my definition" would be considered a sealant.

-----------------------------------

I don't believe there is a pro version. It comes in a liquid and a paste. Liquid doesn't stain trim.
Both the paste & the liquid are the same formula but additives are in the UPW to make a paste.
These additives in the UPW paste can stain trim. I have used Simple Green and cleaned the trim.
Ultimate wax is a "new" recently released product. IMHO It is an excellent consumer line product.

There is no standardization in the detailing world. A polish can be a compound or a sealant???
It is probably impossible to "teach" consumers the difference between a wax and a sealant.
For average consumers, use the terms they already understand. Compound, Polish and Wax.
I would venture to guess that Meguiars marketing said "Just call it a wax...and call it a day."

-----------------------------------

Yes, I would venture to state that it is probably the longest lasting Meguiars LSP product.
Although not best practice, it can be used in the sun & has been tested up to 145 degrees.
