here is my plan for this weekend..

Tonight I'm planning on washing the car with Dawn to remove all of the old wax and such. Dry the car with Waffel weave towel and depending on the time, clay with Mequires Clay Bar and QD

Tomorrow I'm *wanting* to use Mequires #9 2.0 swirl remover to basically just to clean the paint. It has streaks in it, but not so much as *Swirls* The last time I used this #9 on the car was bout a year and a half ago (cars 3 yrs old)

Does it really need to be cleaned ??? :nixweiss :nixweiss

My 2nd step - would be to put down a good layer of Mequires polish and give it that wet shine.

My 3rd step - would be to use Mequires NXT and put the first coat on, then let it sit for about 24 hours

My 4th step - would be to put the 2nd coat of NXT on and then, (if I can find it in my area tonight) apply Mequires #16 Wax.

Now my main question is.. will my car benefit or be worse off using a Sears Random Orbital buffer 9" for the Polish/NXT/Wax?? Using the terry cloth bonnets ??

I know most say the orbital can't heat up the stuff enough to help with deep swirls marks, but mine aren't really that deep or that bad, so will doing it by hand work well enough?

Anything else you can think of that needs to be done.. I'm all eyes:wavey

Trblmkr- Yeah, after a year and a half you'll probably need to clean the paint beyond what the clay will do. If you have swirl marks, the #9 might not be aggressive enough, even with the Sear's buffer.

I don't like those terry bonnets. I'd worry about them marring the finish.

Oh, and note that a lot of Meg's polishes (#3, #5, #7, #81) are what they call "pure polishes". No abrasives, thus no swirl removal.

Okay... I started at 2:30 with the detailing, and I JUST finished with the claying.. guess I really need to start doing it more then once a year with my car.

Tomorrow.. on to the #9 (Thanks Accumulator for the response)
