Detail Spray or California Duster?

Hi Ya'll!


After a full detail and topping off with Souvereign Wax, what is best to use to maintain the original shine after driving around town? Detailing Spray or California Duster?

Neither! Poorboy's Spray and Wipe (aka S&W) is perfect for dust and light dirt. It is essentially a waterless wash. Just spray on the vehicle and wipe off. I just order a 5 gallon jug of it :D awesome stuff! Well I shouldn't say neither because you may use the CCD and then follow up with some QD but make sure that there isn't a lot of dirt on the surface so you won't mar the paint.
 
Yup, some S+W followed by some qd is the trick. Get rid of the duster, its only a scratch installer.

The best way to keep that original shine is to put a coat of wax on every time you wash it.

If you want to add some extra POP inbetween waxing. Any quality carnauba fortified quick detailer wil work for you.

If your looking to just remove the dust from a drive, i use a california car duster. Some use a waterless wash and a MF.
 
CCD for me, but I need it daily with the dust from my job and it would take me an hour to QD my truck.
 
I use both, but only for light dust or pollen. The CCD to pickup the heavier dust and then a QD for the shine. I've never had a marring problem but I only use it on light dust, and never if the car has gotten wet (like dew and such).
 
Anything can cause marring if not used correctly even your favorite wash mitt or sponge. I have used the CCD for years and have been pleased with the results. Perfect for removing that light dust that only a Detail City member would notice.

I have and also used SW and SG when needed. Both are AWSOME products. I was very hesitant to use SW at first. It truly is a “waterless wash”. SG is great for lighter dust or just and a touch of gloss and slickness to a well cared for car.

I use both. I use the Duster then follow that with the S&W

Me too! Never had any scratches with the CCD...I use Z8 afterwards...Oh one thing, make sure the surface is cool when you use the CCD of S&W.

I agree. With a black car, I may dust 3-4 times per day. Sometimes I follow with QD, sometimes not. Fav QD? Z8.... dusting takes about 2 minutes. (I can be totaly anal).:lmfao
 
All have given very good advise. CCD only on cool dry surface. No rubbing!! Lightly drag the CCD over the surface. Then follow up with a QD. S&W is my favorite. Use a quality plush MF towel to wipe away the QD of your choice. Although marring is held to a minimun the truth be told the only way to not instill marring is to not touch the paint. For me that is impossible so I use the CCD and S&W to hold marring to a minimun.
 
S&W works great but if the onl 2 options are a detail spray and a californa duster i would say go with the spray. Im sure the duster is safe but really your just draggin the dust on your car, with a detail spray you get a little bit of lub so it slides od easier. I would say go with the detail spray its probley your best bet
 
Thanks for the replies! I am talking about light dust from just driving around town. My only concern is if I use QD or Poorboy S&W, will it remove some of the Souvereign wax from the previous detailing. Would the CCD also remove some of the wax too. Just wondering......
 
i shouldnt, as far as i know S&W is more then safe for wax. Its just super luby and will help encapsulate the dust so it dosent scratch. you may find a miniscule amout of wax comes off from friction, however it will be to small to notice. S&W would work better then a detail spray

I disagree. The QD won't have enough lube to pick up and remove the dust and dirt without marring. The CCD, when used lightly as cwcad stated, can be a tood tool. Then you can follow up with a QD b/c the surface is now cleaner. Spray and Wipe will not hurt the paint, it will just remover everything on top of the wax, leaving it just like you just waxed it (as long as the wax is still there)
