2011 CTS V Sport Wagon - 556HP

Not Your Grandma’s Wagon

Below is a except from AutoBlog:

Here in America, drivers who prefer station wagons to crossovers and SUVs are in a distinctly fringe minority. In spite of that, Cadillac has heard the cries from the wilderness and delivered the car we've been clamoring for. The CTS-V Sport Wagon is now finally official and production starts later this year.

Ever since AMG built a handful of Hammer station wagons back in the late 1980s, the idea of a family hauler with ludicrous power and torque has held a strange and twisted appeal for us. The V-wagon takes all the traits we love about the 556-horsepower sedan and adds the expanded cargo body style.

Aside from the tailgate, everything else is carried over, including the magnetic ride damping system, Brembo brakes, 19-inch wheels shod in Michelin Pilot Sport PS2s, and the asymmetrical half-shaft rear end to avoid axle tramp. Add in 25.4 cubic feet behind the back seats and 58 cubic feet with them folded and we may well have the perfect performance car. Did we mention the 551 pound-feet of torque?

This vehicle was in need of some Deep Gloss TLC to prep for its driving time with Auto Magazine and Car and Driver this week.

Due to the very limited time I had with this vehicle (1.5 hours) and also due to the fact that it is about to get driven hard and hung up wet by the media this week, only a "wash & wax" was performed and, as such my process, documentation and pictures are limited. I am posting this more due to the fact that this car is not yet released as opposed to show case the wash and wax.

Process:

Paint:

ONR wash

Duragloss Aqua Wax

Duragloss 501 on water spotting

Goo Gone use to remove duct tape residue on body

Glass:

Surf City Glass Cleaner

Engine:

Engine ONR wipedown

Duragloss 265

Wheels/Arches:

ONR

Barebones

Optimum Dressing

Exhaust Tips:

Never Dull

Thanks for looking, Stay tuned as I will have the CTS V coupe in soon!

YES!

Thats what I'm talking about: Detroit's best by one of Michigan's finest! I'd love to own one of these some day - love the looks let alone the performance. I've seen coupes around to include a couple V-coupes, but the V-wagon seems to be ultra rare (no doubt it'll sell in very low numbers).

Thanks for giving us an update and I hope to be in touch!

Looking good! How was the paint?

Paint was in good shape considering this is an engineering vehicle.. I used duragloss 501 to remove any peft over issues from bird droppings etc.

This vehicle (the V version) has not yet been released... It should be on sale to the public at the end of the year.

Ahh, you of all people know how great it is to lay down some love on a home town vehicle....

Thanks for the kind words Marc!

I should have the coupe in soon, I didn't ask what color it is but I am REALLY looking forward to doing the coupe...

Waiting for depreciation to put one of these in my price range is going to be torture!! :lol

Nice!!!

Ha ha, you and me both... This would really serve double duty as a family hauler and a heck of a fast & fun car to drive!

This is definitely a great looking wagon. I would not mind having it for the looks and for the power.

Agreed 100%

Ok, I have to ask this...this was an engineering vehicle for a model that won't be out until the end of the year, sent to you (presumably by GM or a PR firm working for GM) to clean for magazine testing for issues that won't be out for several months...but you are allowed to post pictures of it on the internet?? Have you no non-discloure agreement!?

Good Question: I was given free reign to post these pictures...

FWIW, these have already been spotted around metro-Detroit in the last month or so, so its not exactly a hidden model. They announced it would be made early in the year. It's just not formally released for purchase at this time. I've personally seen a 2011 SRT8 Jeep Grand Cherokee mule (semi stealth version) on 75 near Chrysler's head quarters, and a CTS-V Coupe (no camo or anything) a couple months ago
