Dealerships and New Cars

My wife bought a 2008 Dodge Charger Daytona R/T, it arrived on Thursday, she picked it up on Saturday. I had only one request with the deal, Don't Detail the Car. She picked it up clean, they said they waxed it and they sprayed the engine with some kind of greasy stuff.:wall

I cleaned it up on Sunday, scratches, swirls and I'm still getting the crap off the engine, not sure what kind of wax they used, but I didn't get any beading. It's going to take hours to fix in what they did in 10 minutes.

But it should look good, its a Orange Pearl.

Car looks really nice!

Dealerships are idiots. I picked up my black X-Type and told the dealer not to touch it, and so they didn't. Picked it up nice and dirty. I said the same thing to the Volvo dealer when my wife bought her S40 5 months ago, didn't listen. When we picked it up, it was covered with swirls. I didn't think red would show swirls that much. She wanted silver, I persuaded her to get red, after having to maintain a black car and her red car, I kinda wish she had gotten the silver :sadpace:

When I bought my wife her GXP G6 in March I told the dealership not to touch the paint and when I got there it was very clean. Prepared I pulled out my trusty light and went over the car with a red grease pen marking every area that had a paint problem. I rejected the car on the spot and picked it up a week later after they had removed every scratch and swirl. They got a bit angry and said it's not like your buying it it's a lease!

I think they were still bitter that I managed to buy the car for less than they bought it for.

Sweet Charger!!

And I bet they were all smiley about the big favor they did you instead of them doing as you requested...

Years ago a hit-and-run driver went thru a red light and broadsided my car. Fortunately, no one was hurt (at least in my car...he ran), but between the extensive damage and some prior dings/rust (this was back when cars rusted) I opted for a repaint. This car had a factory pinstripe decal in a complementary red to the red paint, and black body side molding. I just presumed they were going to replace that stuff. When I picked it up, it had gold tape roll pinstripes and red bodyside molding...I kind of flipped out about why hadn't they just replaced like for like (or at least ask me beforehand) and the body shop mgr. told me they were doing me a favor and "dressing it up a little", just like they did for you  I kept that car for another 16 or 18 years with red pinstripe tape on top of the gold (they did replace the BSM with black).
