Dangit - Still can't decide on a bulk Exterior product for the wheelwells

After experimenting, I prefer the look of Z16 for anything rubber or vinyl on the exterior trim or tires. Hell, I even use it on my black roof rails ;-)

Been looking at a bulk gallon exterior product for the wheelwells. Been using AA but have recently been looking at the CG line as well. I'm down to 2 more applications with the AA. Recommend me a product guys........

Liquid Extreme Shine is the *only* way to go. I have been using CG's water-based O-shine on wells lately, and inferior is an understatement - it requires buffing in with a terry towel to prevent white streaks, while the oil-based LES is simply spray and go. It's a great trim dressing too, however I do like the O-shine for tires.

I've had good luck with Griot's Undercarriage Spray. On smooth plastic panels it needs a wipe after spraying. On textured surfaces it doesn't run if I don't over apply it. Seems to last too. Comes in 35oz or gallon containers.

I picked up a few bottles of Street Appeal Tire Dressing at my local Dollar Tree. For a 32 oz bottle for $1 you really can't beat it for wheel wells.

I've been using 303 Aerospace protectant on mine. I really love the results. It's a somewhat pricey but a little goes a long ways.

I like the look 303 gives as well on tires and occasionally put it on if the forecast sees no rain for 5 days straight....other than that, 303 is mainly dashboard/interior use.

Doesn't really last out here in the Northeast ...for exterior use ;-)

When choosing product...as this is somewhat not a cosmetic must necessity, I do weigh in total cost of the product....and the CH stuff comes out to abouts $38 which is somewhat $$ for just a undercarriage product. AA diluted with a tad bit of water works for me as well.

Just looking to try bigger and better things as always.

I've personally have been thinking about getting Meg's Hyper Dressing and diluting it 4:1 just for wheel wells and maybe the engine bay. I currently still have a lot of Meg's Water-Based Dressing which can be cut 2:1, but I prefer using that for the interior. I also have other dressings, but I can't justify the cost for areas that most people won't even care or notice so cheapest would be best.

same here, but a gallon would last me forever and i don't want to sit on product for that long. i noticed walmart has the 64oz bottle of AA (around $11), so i may just use that instead...

That was another option I've been thinking about since it can be had locally. I still want something more economical, since the 64 oz bottle of AA still comes out to about $20/gal, whereas Hyper Dressing comes out to less than $10/gal if used at 4:1

Is AA water-based? I haven't used their stuff since I was a little kid. If it can be cut 1:1 with water, that should make it just as economical as Hyper Dressing.

i believe it is water-based, and i was also wondering if AA can be diluted as well (asked that question in another thread, but didn't really get a definitive answer). overall, one AA jug should last a while even if it's used straight un-diluted...

I've got a local Murray's closing out Stoner's Trim Shine for 2.50 a can. It looks great in wheel wells, IMHO.

Recently tried Optima tire & trim. Used 2-3 coats on wheel wells and tires. Looks good and appears to last. (Don't like it on wheels, though...)

Meg's Hyperdressing can be bought up to 5 gallons I think, looks great, smells awesome, and is fully dilutable (sp) with water. Great product all around, IMO.

I use TOL Grape on the tires - looks great despite what Willy says, for wheelwells - Majestic Solutions Poly-Pro is the way to go.

I must be the only one that spray paints the wheel wells black then on this board. Thought that was pretty common practice (considering every other detailer I've ever met in my entire life does it that way) then shine the tires with dressing of choice.

Jake, painting is probably nessesary up in MI with the snow and salt, but down south - we just clean and spray a dressing.
