Does anyone use this with the customer standing there to record damage already done to the car? I have been thinking about using one....but can't figure out where to get one or how to even create one! I have looked at Excel and can't seem to find anything. Anyone have one they can help me with?

Thanks!!

Yes, always inspect the vehicle prior to performing work with the customer. I usually just make notes on the carbon copy invoice of existing damage and have it initialed.

Additionally use this time to upsell. Point out certain areas and reference the results of the package they're interested in. If they only scheduled a one step, mention the problems that won't be resolved at this price point. If they wanted a full correction, point out scratches in need of touch up, offer to pick up OEM paint at dealer cost +30% and apply it at $XX. It works.

OP... pm me your e-mail or e-mail me @ [email protected]... I've sent out my "check-in" sheet to a few people on here already, which does have a section to note down damage present before I start the detail... it's basically a sheet that shows owner and car info, date, detail service, price, some disclaimer (3rd party theft doesn't involve me, etc.) and a section with different parts of car listed and space to list their current state...

So again, just give me your e-mail and I can send it over to you.

Circle all damage (rips, scuffs, cuts, scratches, loose trim).

If you can repair it, offer a repair and put the price on the check in sheet.

If the customer mentions a particular request ("Can you glue this trim back in place?" "No fragrances please." "The rear window doesn't roll down.") write that request down. They will appreciate that you not only heard their request, but documented it.

Write down the price of the work you are performing and when it will be done.

Record their email, address, and phone number in Microsoft Outlook or another organizer and contact them at least 4 times a year to remind them of your services.
