daiper towels?

I just bought a 6 pack of "daiper towels" at target, they are 100% cotton but have no loops. They are "vroom" brand and I want to use them for polishing/removing wax. Is this ok, or should I get some cicrofiber towels? (they sell MF towels at target too)

Diaper cloth has no nap to it, so any dirt that gets trapped between it and the paint can possibly scratch.

If I were to use diaper cloth, it would probably be for metal polishing because it will make quick work of buffing.

Stick with microfiber for paint.

Besides what the textile is made of, it also matters what they *do* with those fibers. "Microfiber" can be made out of natural or synthetic materials, it's the "micro" nature of how those fibers are used that makes the (functional) difference. Guys like DFTowel have posted some very informative stuff about the textiles we use when detailing, it's more involved than one might think.

I have 100% cotton towels that'll mar automotive paint as if made out of sandpaper, and the diapers I have are among the *worst* in this regard. That's in addition to the "no nap" issue where dirt has nowhere to migrate to away from the paint.

I have used diapers and diaper bonnets to remove wax for years. Dont know about Targets..I get mine from TOL.

ah, so it does not need to be 100% cotton, it is the soft feel & loops that are the most importatnt.. thanks! Target has soom Vroom brand MF towels too!

Read a bit more. Lots to be found and it's not as simple as it seems.

Most non-American made cotton towels are not truly all cotton and the American or otherwise made ones also likely have non-cotton seams.

The Vroom Grey MF at Target passed my CD test. I'd check each batch of everything you buy by rubbing/polishing an unwanted CD with similar pressure that you'd use on a car or even more perssure to check how abrasive it is.

IMO whatever's gonna touch your pait oughta be tested beforehand. The CD test isn't perfect, but it's a lot better than testing the risky way (i.e., using something on your car and then seeing if it caused damage).

but microfiber is mostly polyester...

WRONG! Microfiber refers only to the size of the yarn (diameter) used to make the fabric. It has nothing at all to do with the content (cotton, poly, nylon, etc.)
