Dacp

I see threads discussing using dacp on swirl marks, is this abrasive on the paint, is it like a rubbing compound, I have some swirls on my wifes black mustang and I was thinking about using dacp on it. :nixweiss

Thanks in advance.

DACP is a "6" on Meguiar's abrasive scale, IIRC. So, that being said, yes, it is abrasive on the paint. However, depending on several variables (age of paint, method of application, etc.), it is safe to use, and when used correctly, you can virtually eliminate those swirl marks.

Are you planning on applying this by hand? by rotary buffer? or using a PC?

~One mans opinion / observation~

I’m no expert on Meg’s product line but I know #2 (Fine Cut Cleaner) and ScratchX will remove surface marks successfully can be hand applied.

DACP I always considered as a ‘machine applied product’, but then what do I know.

~Hope this helps~

In my some what limited experience I don't think you will be very successful. This product needs to be worked until it is dry. So unless you have arms like Paul Sr. on American chopper, lots of luck! BTW, I recently used it on my car with my PC and a yellow pad. There was a definite improvement, but I think to get all of the micro-marring out I will have to do again with a red cutting pad. I applied the new Megs NXT after the DACP and the shine is SWEET.

Some people have had success using DACP by hand (I've never tried it this way), but it's going to be a little bit of work. From what I've heard, the best method for hand application is a folded terry cloth (100% cotton) towel, taking the time to really work the product in.
