DA vs. Rotary...

I'm stuck between buying a new DA buffer or a rotary. I've been using a pneumatic buffer for years and just sick of the compressor noise. I have the articulation and knowledge of keep it moving or bust, so either will be fine in my hands. I think I just need a shove in a direction...

I learned on a rotary many years ago in high school. Last time I used one was about 7 years ago. Last Spring I bought a new car and decided I needed a machine for the garage and I bought a Griot's Garage 6" random orbital and I love it and even though I have limited experience with a rotary I love the GG for the ease of use and I don't have to worry about burning the paint. There are other RO machines out there but this one was more in my price range. Hope this helps.

Dean. :D

I have both but the new guy on the block is...I might suggest a Bigfoot...I'm sure Todd could steer you in the right direction

I use both a rotary and GG regularly, but if I was to buy 1 new polisher, it would be the Rupes. They are apparently some pretty badass machines.

Well I purchased a DA from harbor freight. ha. two year warranty that was free and if I don't like it I'm only out $60. I'll post about it tomorrow but I will DEFINITELY check that flex out. I just don't know how I'll live without my compressor drowning out my neighbors yelling...

The FLEX 3401 would be a huge step up from the Harbor Freight DA and its clones. It is a forced rotation DA, which means it drives both the rotation and the oscillation -as stated it is the best of both worlds.

With the new pads and products on the market developed for DA polishers, you will find very little they cannot do and many things that they can do better then a rotary. That said, I still love my FLEX rotary as well.
