DA Machine - unusual problem

Hi, I have just bought a FLEX Porter Cable DA machine (same as PC 7424), and was using it for the first time yesterday.

The first 5 min, I was using Speed 2 with Megs Polishing Pad (yellow) + DACP. Then, switched to Speed 4. After a minute, there was a loud pop from the machine, and I saw a puff of smoke (similar to smoke from striking a match) and it smelled like burnt fireworks.

The machine was still working and I switched off immediately out of fear.



Any idea what's the cause? Someone told me it's the resistor inside that protects from interference if there's a TV nearby. I don't know and don't wanna guess.

The tool needs to be checked by an expert, when the smoke gets out of electrical equipment... Well, it seems that they no longer work properly and can present a shock hazard... Since its new take it back to the seller, it should be covered under warranty...
