Cyclo polisher pads Hey Bill D/Accum!

I need to get some more pads for my Cyclo. Bill, I know you mentioned getting Lake Country pads, but where did you get them from? CMA seems to have an orange power one and a white polishing pad, but that's it. You mentioned having a cutting one also. The LC website lists all their VC pads as being available in 4" size, but I haven't seen a place that sells them.

Are there any pad options besides Cyclo and LC?

How do the LC pads compare to the Cyclo ones? The Lake Country ones from CMA are about twice as much for a pair as a pair of Cyclo pads. Are they twice as durable or useful? The Cyclo seems to eat pads up reasonably quickly, probably due to their small size and the Cyclo's action.

Thanks! :wavey

I got them from LC directly. They are the same thing as the ones for the PC except 4". Will be posting my write up on a SL 55 AMG soon!

%!@&*(@! I just deleted all but 3 of my pics of the detail!

:wall. Oh well, that's it, no write up :(

I used the yellow 4" LC cutting pads and the white LC polishing pads

The Cyclo with the Menzerna ceramiclear polish really can't do much to anything other than the most miniscule micromarring. On the hood I tried THREE polishes to do it :the Menzerna, 1z Ultra, and 1z PP ! Even the kind of the stuff I remove from my Audi with it just doesn't work on the Ceramiclear paint. Car looks great still, only under halogens or the most intense sunlight can you see the defects but the owner still will take it to the car wash :scared: so every last defect removed isn't a priority for him

I used FP as the last polishing pass on the rest of the car.

Duh! I was given the impression, by Lake Country, that one could not buy direct. Shoot, I'll buy by the dozen... but...

Our in house LC rep is bufferman71. I assume he can give you the best, most accurate information. JimmyBuffit--I'm sure they'll be happy to see your order of dozens :D :up

I guess I don't check the pro section much, though I'm not a pro. I missed that whole thread. Thanks Bill. I'm guessing in addition to the different backing feel, that they LC feels like better, more durable foam? I've never used an LC pad before. Thanks,

Yes, the foam is high quality and is very durable. Now that I have the Cyclo, I ought to order more :up

Joining this thread late (been out of town) just to say I haven't done much with the LC Cyclo pads yet.

The Cyclo brand cutting pads (yellow) aren't too bad, but they do leave micromarring and they seem to lose some "bite" after a little use. Dunno if there's any huge diff between them and the LC ones though.

Although the Cyclo brand pads seem kinda thin/cheap compared to LC, they do work well, as evidenced by all the pros using them by the thousands (you can't *imagine* how many TOL sells to pros  ). As I recall, most pros use the green pads almost exclusively, though some people claim they leave (minute) micromarring. Gee, is "minute micromarring" redundant?

Anthony O. says there are some new pads coming out from Cyclo that should work well for major correction. Plus, there's the chance that we'll get some 4" Sonus pads. I'm holding off ordering for now until I see what develops.

Now that there seem to be more suppliers of 4" pads coming on board, I think I will go with a Cyclo over a rotary for my next major purchase.

ScottWax- I won't be surprised if you get some flak for that decision, but IMO you're making a good move :xyxthumbs The gradual ramping up of your polishing/LSP processes just makes good sense.

After all your experience doing things by hand, or I should say, your *customers'* experience, the rotary would be a step into a whole 'nother realm- where damage is quite possible....something you/they haven't had to worry about heretofore. And I somehow get the impression you don't have the time to spend hours with scrap panels mastering the rotary right now ;)

Accumulator,

Here's an analogy of my impression of the LC v. standard pads: if the standards are an A8 then the LC's are a S8 :D

How much more money are the Lake Country pads? The TOL price on Cyclo pads looks pretty cheap at $2.65 ea.
