Scormunch,

First, :welcome to the board.

Second, that is one bad Explorer you have there. Very nice. Just a tip, if you really want it to roll, go get a 97 Mustang 5.0 processor and you will really see what it can do! It's the same engine, same wiring harness and everything. All Ford did was detune the Explorer because they couldn't have SUV's out there keeping up with the stangs, plus they wanted better gas mileage......who needs that!!:xyxthumbs

Thanks... I love both the 'stang and your new expedition. I know I've seen that before somewhere, I think there was a thread about it on the explorerforum a while back. I'll try to find it for you.

You're right, who does need that?? ;) A 97' mustang 5.0? I thought the last year of the 5.0 ponycar was 95', then they switched over to the 4.6

For the scrutinizing eyes of autopia... I know the front airdam doesn't have a clearcoat on it... I just did a half-assed job myself so it didn't look primered, and am going to have it painted by a pro first thing in the spring. Theres no point in going through a new england winter with new paint.

I'm thinking of having the whole car resprayed the blue color from the X5 4.6is. I still can't decide

You're right. I forgot about 97 being a 4.6. Just like you said, you would need a 95' processor, not a 97. Sorry about that.

My brother was working for Ford for a while and he told me about one of the tech's Explorers they did this to and he said it was like night and day and the only thing they changed was the processor, nothing else. It's definitely worth looking into, and you could even get a Mustang chip to put in it for a little extra oomf!

Hmm, I'm going to have to look into this. It's a tossup whether I'm going to put any more money into this explorer. I love it, but my dad finally agreed to let me buy his 02' 330ci sport (5spd) after his payments are done this spring :xyxthumbs

EDIT: (330ci) 2 dr... w/ msport 18's
