I've spent about $2400. My wife has bought me about $800 in mods for gifts (Christmas, B-day, Father's Day!)...

Total $3200......

Not too bad for a hobby. I know a lot of guys that spend that much on a set of golf clubs!

Will I ever get that back?......NO.....but it's worth it to me for the fun of MODDING!

1990 Accord LX

Engine:

AEM cold air intake

AEM tru-power pulleys

DC Sports ceramic 4-2-1 header

EX ECU (no top speed limiter!)

Custom 2.25" exhaust w/Catgo high flow cat and a Vortec turbo muffler (very quiet at cruising speeds, nice roar at full throttle)

Wheels & tires

15 x 6.5 Konig Caffienes

Panther (made by BF Goodrich) 195/60 15s

Suspension:

Tenzo front and rear upper strut bars

Suspension Techiniques front anti-roll bar

Exterior:

Shaved emblems

Clear corners and bumpers-corners done JDM style with amber bulbs (see attached pic)

Silverstar 9006-9005 conversion

Sound system:

Sony head unit (cassette-got it about 5 years ago and I've got tons of tapes)

Kenwood KAC-848 4 x 50w amp

JBL-GTO-602 speakers in the doors

Kicker Impulse 6.5s in the rear deck

Miscellaneous:

Tinted windows

Sidewinder alarm

Cost? I don't know, a lot more than the car is worth.

'92 Eagle Talon TSi AWD:
  • Custom Spearco 221-B FMIC and piping (filter relocated to fender well)
  • 3" turbo back exhaust.
  • TRE-ported 2G exhaust manifold
  • TRE-ported 2G O2 sensor housing
  • 2G throttle body elbow
  • TRE-ported 16G turbo (no clip); 34-mm wastegate valve installed to prevent boost creep
  • Autronic stand-alone fuel computer
  • J&S Safeguard (not yet installed)
  • Aftermarket brake pads (Metal Matrix??? I think)
  • Upgraded suspension: Koni front/GAB rear; Eibach Pro-kit springs . . . I also have a set of Ground Control coil-overs sitting in the garage that I haven't installed yet (includes springs, but will use the Koni/GAB struts I already have).
  • Dunlop SP8000 "fair weather" tires
  • Gauges

    - White-faced gauge conversion

    - center-vent mount holds two gauges, currently VDO 0-30 psi boost and AutoMeter A/F, but I have two new white-faced gauges from Westach to replace those (not yet installed); one is -30 to 30 psi boost, and the other is a dual gauge that shows fuel pressure and EGT
  • Upgraded stereo stuff (nothing to shout about, just "better than stock" . . . Aiwa head unit, forget what brand the door speakers are (Panasonic?), and an easily-removed sub-box in the hatch (not built in)
  • Tranny recently completely rebuilt and freshened
  • ACT 2600 clutch
  • short shifter and bushings
  • Salvage yard "big-brake" upgrade (not yet installed)

The motor is currently out of the car; I slagged the #2 piston at the track and it scored the block. I happened to have a bottom-end from a '90 (a parts car that I own), and the head was undamaged (and recently freshened), so the rebuild shouldn't be too painful. Nothing special planned for the rebuild other than '95+ pistons, which will bump compression slightly (should improve off-boost performance a bit).

So far on the WRX:
  • TrunkMonkey!
  • Thermal R&D 3" cat-back
  • Godspeed up-pipe
  • Stromung downpipe (hi-flow cat)
  • 17" Rota Tarmac wheels/Falken Azenis tires
  • Defi HUD boost gauge/turbo timer
  • Color matching OEM side skirts
  • K&N panel filter; hacked airbox
  • Prodrive springs, to-be-installed (TBI)
  • Goodridge braided stainless brake lines, upgraded pads (TBI)

I have plans to add an intercooler sprayer this spring, maybe fuel control if I can drum up a few $$$ detailing friends' cars with the warmer weather. The computer is about $1000, but worth about 20 whp on an otherwise stock car, plus the ability to tune for modifications as they start to exceed the abilities of the stock ECU.

Ah, but to get a TrunkMonkey, you must first acquire the Beauty of All-Wheel Drive :D

Thanks, Detailbarn.......

It's easy to "over-do-it" when it comes to mods.

I subscribe to the less is more theory. :)
