Current Best WWMFs/etc. for Glass?

I'd been very satisfied using Cobra WWMFs for Glass, IIRC I got 'em from AG as an impulse buy when checking out their BHBs. But now they're leaving scads of MF lint behind :( And yeah, I always wash them separately to avoid any cross-contamination. It seems like they must've worn out to the point of now-constant shedding.

I'd appreciate hearing what others are having good results with. I realize this sort of thing can change over time; had somebody asked me a few months ago I would've recommended the Cobras. At present I'm back to cotton with a final follow-up using the Griot's polypro disposables...and cleaning windows has become a PIA again.

Well Im sure you are gonna get ALOT of responses with different opinions and what not, but I have been using the WW's from PakShak. They are small and a perfect size for glass. I have had these towels for 3 years now and they still perform beautifully. You may want to give them a try.

Heres a link for ya George, hope I helped a bit.

Geeeez Accumulator, you're really depressing me.

I just got my Cobra WW Glass towels this week. I used them for the first time yesterday and thought they were awesome. I was all pumped up about my new towels and now I'm kinda worried

I have found almost anybody's glass towels to be fine for applying the glass cleaner; however, without question, the final wipe should be done with a Meguiar's Gold Class Duo-Fiber Glass Towel.

i like using the edgeless short nap mf towels (megs ultimate wipe / viking/mothers edgeless polishing cloth) for glass, they seem to cut through better and not lint/streak like the plush mf's...

The 16x16 WW's from MicrofiberTech are really nice, thick and soft. I have some but haven't used them yet (quiet, Eliot!). While you're there, their edgeless are pretty nice also, since BigAl3 mentioned edgeless (ditto on my use of these and the comments from Eliot Ness).

My favorite glass towel is the old Poorboy's work towel. They were kind of like the current flock of edgeless, but seemed to be a little coarser, and perfect for glass. Unfortunately, that towel has been changed to be like all the other edgeless, which is a bit softer.

Accumulator, try picking up the glass cleaning mf towels from Walmart that are in the very same area as the waffle weave. They come in a 2 pack, one blue and one white.

After I spray my window with my cleaner, I use this glass mf towel to do the cleaning. Then I go back and wipe with a generic Sam's club mf towel. The tighter weave of the microfiber seems to cut through grime better and makes it a better towel at cleaning, but it's not a very absorbent towel, which is where the 2nd towel comes into play.

If it doesn't work, at worst you wasted a few bucks and the wifey has some more towels for the house.

+1 Those inexpensive Wal-Mart WWMF are great. You can get them in the kitchen section for less than $3 IIRC. I use the same method as BlackElantraGT. Spray glass with Stoner's IG and then scrub. These towels are great for scrubbing the glass clean and polish with a finer MF towel from COSTCO.

There was a thread here a few weeks ago on good finds at Wal-Mart. A bunch of people in the thread raved about the 2 pack of WWMF towels. For the price they can't be beat. As usual Autopia is a wealth of great info.

Thanks to all who've responded. And yeah, kleraudio, I do appreciate the reciprocity.

I've tried some of (quite a few of, actually) the suggested options, and some of them have eventually had the same linting issue. I suspect it's a matter of how the towels wear. I'll be interested to hear if the linting occurs to others after a period of time/use.

I've also used the glass cleaning MFs with no nap/tight weave, they're our general go-tos for glass around the house. For some personal-preference reason I don't like them for the vehicles...and they don't seem to do that final 1% to my satisfaction.

Don't take the above as off-hand dismissals of any suggestions, I do appreciate each and every response. Some of the suggestions are similar-to but perhaps different-from what I have, and next time I'm shopping I'll pick up a few things to try out since you folks like them so much. Heh heh, I don't mind accumulating a few more MFs :D

FWIW, I still like cotton for the initial cleaning (and I have a scad of small 100% cotton towels). It's that final cleaning/de-streaking that I want the MFs for. That sorta gets me inclined to try the surgical huck towels, so thanks for the link, PTRon .

Less- I bet my suggestions/posts factored in when you chose those WWMFs, and I'll sure feel bad if I steered you wrong :o Until they started linting they were great, so maybe it's just my situation or maybe#2 it could be a useful-life issue :nixweiss Please report on how they work for you and feel free to flame me for the recommendation if they start to lint and it drives you nuts ;) Honestly, I could live with just replacing them regularly if I don't find anything I like better, they were *that* good. Incredible in the winter, when salt-residue just wants to smear instead of wiping off cleanly.

BlackElantraGT- Heh heh, guess which of us does most of the household cleaning too ;) "household MFs for wifey"...Accumulatorette would probably find that pretty :chuckle:

I've been used the Paks WW glass for some time now and they really are quite nice. The knit is god enough that I can probably do all exterior windows on my X5 with only 1 towel.

My favs are the Pakshak Glass towel. Its a fantastic towel. Perfect size and nap.

If you are looking for something OTC then the white Microtek MF glass towels in the Households Section of Walmart are nice. A great deal at 2 for $2.97

I like Chemical Guy's 12x16 WW's, I use them for glass only (and wash seperately) until they start to streak, then I use them for wheel and doorjamb drying and AW'ing. They are cheap enough that my replacement schedule doesn't kill my budget.

Wow, lots of additional good responses. Thanks!

If I don't resist temptation I'll have a scad of glass towels around..so many that I'll never keep them all straight :D

I haven't had any problems with the WWMF's that Patrick at Excel sells. Have you tried those?

No, I haven't tried those. Are they "glass" towels or regular WWs that happen to work well on glass?

Might as well give another thumbs up to the Pakshak WW glass towels. I've been very happy with the way they perform. When used with either the NXT Glass Cleaner or Stoners IG, my windows always look crystal clear.
