Crappiest Carpets

I first did this when i was trying to wash this

dirt1.jpg

I wanted to get the dirt off without grinding it into the paint. So rather than using two buckets I used one and a hose.. just filled the bucket with dawn and water, broke out my MF wash mitt. And scrubed the car... when the pad got filled with dirt (that was bout 4 inches on that car). I took the hose and sprayed the mitt over the driveway. I figured if i used 2 buckets there would of been so much dirt in the 2nd bucket it would of carried over to the first. This way all the extra dirt simply washed down the driveway and my wash bucket and mitt were always clean going onto the car.

I've also used that method when my car is very dirty. It seems to work well and IMHO is easier than using 2 buckets.

Dr. Jones,

Thanks for posting a picture of what a car looks like after about an hour of driving in snow country. For all the folks lucky enough to only see snow on TV, this is what we have to put up with on a daily basis.

And trying to wash this off when it's below freezing is just............., well, you get the idea.

I prefer to take mine to the quarter car wash and spray it off. It gets everything but the road film off the car. Yes it does take the wax off also, but you have to stop the electrolysis between the salt and the finish somehow. Thanks again for the pic. Enjoy!

All I can say is that I'm glad I'm in LA!

Dr. Jones, definitely a good idea to rinse your mitt with fresh water from the hose. Not sure if you're already doing this or not, but once you get the visible dirt out of your mitt, you can also get it even cleaner by putting the nozzle in your mitt and flushing the dirt out from the inside.

Dr. Jones,

Your method is exactly what I do, I too always thought that after 2 or 3 rinses in the 2nd bucket, that bucket is now dirty, so I wear a wash mitt and hose it off every time.

Boy that is one filthy car! Looks like you need more than a 2 bucket system. Must really suck to have to deal with that mess everyday when you get back. I am glad I live in LA.

damn drew, that SG haze is severe, use way less next time :xyxthumbs

I'm crazy, I use the no bucket, foam dispenser, chenielle wash mitt, hose method in the winter.
rinse the mitt, 4-6 dallops of foam (spread on the mitt a little). I actually arch the mitt as i'm wiping to always get new chenielle contact with the paint. I'm considering buying 8 mitts so I can just rinse them all at the end. Make sure to soak your car first :)

Boy am i glad i live where i do.. always sunny (sometimes a little rain, and a hurricane or 2) puerto rico..

well.. in 5 months i too will be experiencing the snow when i go off to college :scared in NY probably.. oh well, ill still have my pathy down here, so ill be able to detail it real nice when i come and visit. :D

well right now im inbetween Syracuse and Manhattanville..

im awaiting a response from NYU to see what they tell me..

another option is Loyola Maryland if i get in..

I've had a long standing battle with Porsche trunk carpets. Volkswagens have always proven to be a hassle too, but my latest pain involves Subaru :-t

So this brings me to my question. What manufacture has the crappiest carpets IYHO

Thanks for your imput into this matter

Trouble :-B

Ive had times where dodge carpets were a pain. Not all just the viper and nitro. Weird how that works. On occasion ill run into something worse but over all its just those.

OK Trouble, I'll bite. IMHO, FORD carpets suck! I own 2 so I have daily experience :White Horse::White Horse:

Hmm I like Ford carpets. I've only ever worked on newer Fords though. maybe their older carpet is bad.
In general I think that newer low pile carpets are easier to work on than the older thick carpets.

Mazda is the worst that comes to mind.

The new Malibus are a PITA.

older & some newer Chrysler vehicles.

a lot of trunk carpeting thats put in vehicles after 2003-03 is junk.
