Craftsmen's Shop-Vac Question

Just One More Coat
Can anyone tell me if there is a filter that can replace the paper filter on my 5.0 HP Craftmans shop vac that will do dry and wet applications....its kind of a pain to me when you have to take the paper one out to suck up water.

Also

I have a Craftmans air compressor that I've had for 8 years that I have used very little...it starts up OK but then after about 1 to 2 minutes shuts down and will not start back up until it cools off...Do you think that the warranty is still good on this thing...For some reason I remember they had a life time warranty...or am I wrong?

They do make filters for wet and dry applications. Just go to your local sears and look around the shop vac section.

About the warrenty on the air compressor. I'm not to sure, i know they warranty all their hand tools sockets, screwdrivers, prybars, etc. I don't think they cover their power tools. I would call the craftsman help line or your local sears.

You can try to send them an e-mail asking about your warrenty situation:
http://www.sears.com/sr/framework/h...sc/sears/custserv/custserv_warranty_email.jsp

On their site for new compressors:
"Sears Protection Agreements
Here's how it works:
If this product fails to operate properly due to defects in materials or workmanship, or normal wear and tear, within the term of this Agreement, simply return the product along with this Merchandise Replacement Agreement booklet and your email sales receipt to the nearest Sears retail store in the US and Sears will replace it with the identical product. If the identical product is no longer available, Sears will replace it with a product of comparable value
During Checkout, choose the Merchandise Replacement Agreement that is right for you:
Add 12 months to the original warranty and replace your product rather than repair it $13.35"

On the air compressor you can probably exchange it. Sears is very good about doing that. I had a Craftsman polisher before that I had for about 4 years or so. I took it back without my receipt & they credited my credit card no questions asked.

I found that they have a foam sleeve that goes over the area where the paper one is....you can use for both wet and dry applications....I'm going to get one for it today.

When you go in, talk to someone there about your compressor. Heck, if you're going in a vehicle that it fits in, take it along while you're at it. :) Like hemin8r said, they are usually very helpful when you talk to them in person. I had a battery for my screw gun go bad a while back. Took it in, even though batteries are not covered, and they replaced it for me anyway. Never hurts to ask. :) And even if they tell you it's not covered at all, ask if there's anything Sears will do for you at all, you never know if they might have some program whereby you can exchange it for a new one at a fraction of the new one's cost. Although, if my Craftsman ever dies, I'm gonna replace it with something quieter, good lord... I was just out in the garage topping off the tires, and my ears are still ringing, hehehehe :lmfao
